Job summary

Sapien Engineering is seeking a Design Engineer / CAD Designer for our client based in Leamington Spa. This hands-on mechanical design role covers developing new products and producing detailed SolidWorks drawings through to manufacturing, testing and ongoing improvements.

Open to experienced Design Engineers or CAD Engineers, the ideal candidate will have SolidWorks and SolidWorks PDM experience, and a good understanding of DFM and manufacturing processes, including castings, injection moulding

Qualifications

• At least 2 years' experience as a Design Engineer, CAD Engineer or in a similar role.
• Experience using SolidWorks and SolidWorks PDM.
• Experience designing components and assemblies for manufacture.
• Good understanding of manufacturing and assembly processes, ideally including castings, injection moulding and machining.

Responsibilities

• Produce detailed 3D CAD models, GA drawings, manufacturing drawings and BOMs using SolidWorks.
• Develop new and existing products from concept through to detailed design, testing and production.
• Improve existing products with a focus on DFM, cost reduction, material selection and performance.
• Design components and assemblies for different manufacturing processes, including castings, injection moulding and machining.
• Work with operations and manufacturing teams to develop test equipment and production solutions.
• Support engineering changes and continuous improvement projects.
• Carry out calculations and design studies to check and validate designs.
• Work closely with different teams throughout product development and product launches.
• Support CMM and metrology inspection of new and existing components.
• Investigate design and manufacturing issues and help identify practical solutions.

Sapien is looking for a Design Engineer / CAD Designer for our client based in Leamington Spa.

We're open to experienced Design Engineers, but also CAD Engineers and candidates who have moved into design from an assembly or manufacturing background. If you understand how products are made and assembled and have good CAD skills, we'd be interested in speaking with you.
