A leading company in telecommunications is seeking a Cable Operative to build and maintain fibre networks. This role involves heavy cable pulling and requires skills in IT, organization, and communication. The Cable Operativewill build and maintain new and existing core and distribution fibre networks,specifically fibre cable, sub duct pulling as well as fibre blowing. Involvesheavy cable pulling, either with assist equipment or by-hand, and identifyingcables/parts of cables, sub ducts to be worked on in various locations andenvironments.
As part of a 2 or 3 person gang, the core responsibilities will be to :
· Upgrade existing fibre networks through heavy cable pulling, sub ductpulling and fibre blowing to client standards
· Build and maintain new and existing fibre networks either with assistequipment or by-hand through identifying cables and sub ducts to be worked onin various locations and environments
· Record changes and upgrades made updating the client with details upontask closure
There is a strong focus on health and safety and you will be required tocomplete risk assessments and online forms via a company provided tablet/mobilephone.
· Ability to work with minimum supervision
· Be able to prioritise, organise and manage tasks
· Well-presented and have good presentation skills.
· Must have good IT skills – specifically Microsoft Excel and Word.
· Must be holding a Full Driving License
· Approved Fibre / Sub Duct installation trained. Confined Spaces City& Guilds preferred, relevant fibre cabling and blowing qualifications.
