Job description

Nicholas Associates have an excellent opportunity for an experienced Buyer to join a reputable groundworks company based in the East Midlands.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Build relationships and manage suppliers, negotiate prices and place orders
2. Manage the day-to-day project procurement of materials
3. Liaise with on-site teams to source cost-effective, high-quality materials
4. Monitor supplier performance, quality, prices, and development
5. Ensure health and safety compliance
6. Identify new potential suppliers and products
7. Prepare quotations and proposals
8. Attend team meetings and site visits
9. Maintain cost reports to maximize efficiency

Requirements:

• Previous experience as a Buyer within groundworks, civil engineering, or house building sectors
• Knowledge of groundworks materials, aggregates, asphalt, concrete, and drainage
• Strong negotiation skills and ability to build effective relationships with suppliers and site teams
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and managing large data sets
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
