Independent Consultant - Automotive Infotainment, ADAS, ADI

We are a truly global company with approx. 70% of our sales exported.

We are a flexible engineering and design led company with a long track record of providing innovative, cutting-edge solutions for our UK and international customers. We are securing our future as we utilise our engineering prowess to design and deliver new products for our markets.

The opportunity is to join a small team based at our UK site near Petersfield, Hants. Key accountabilities include:

  • Day to day management of the goods and materials buying function
  • Establishing and maintaining close supplier relationships with the objective of ensuring exemplary quality and delivery performance
  • Stock forecasting and management
  • Managing shipping – optimising container loads and shipping costs

We have a 34 hour week – finishing at 1.00 pm on Fridays.

We are flexible on employment and happy to discuss full time, part time and hybrid options.

Key Responsibilities

  • Sourcing goods and materials, supplier negotiations and development of supplier relationships
  • Develop buying strategies ensuring lowest cost while ensuring quality, reliability and resilience of supply
  • Run Stock Forecast Report – ensuring stock levels are managed accurately and business material requirements are met
  • Raise necessary supplier purchase orders as highlighted by the SFR
  • Ensuring stock is maintained at agreed optimal levels
  • Monitor and report slow moving stock
  • Chase suppliers re unconfirmed or not shipped orders
  • Monitor and report on supplier delivery performance for review by management
  • Monthly review of supplier delivery performance

Shipping

  • Negotiate with import freight forwarders for shipping times and costs
  • Negotiate with suppliers as required to improve shipping schedules – monitoring MOQs and MOVs. Updating system/records as appropriate.
  • Create shipping containers - maximising the load per container
  • Arrange premium freight as necessary. Updating systems/records as appropriate.
  • Run Direct Shipment report and liaise with Taiwan office to ensure orders are fulfilled
  • Track and follow incoming shipments with forwarders – updating internally and customers as required
  • Managing and testing shipping providers, reviewing costs, and rates to ensure ‘best price’
  • Monitor and check landed costs
  • Ensure shipping complies with all relevant legislation and import/export procedures

Qualifications / Experience:

Typical minimum education & experience:

  • CIPS Part/Fully Qualified
  • GCSE/BTec/NVQ
  • Proven record of the principles of materials and demand management
  • Knowledge of end to end supply activities.
  • Microsoft Office Bundle – particularly Excel and other database management software
  • Organisational and administration
  • Accuracy and attention to detail

Salary (FTE); £25,000 - £35,000 per annum.
