Job description

Currently looking for an ambitious and driven Buyer to join a successful family-run retail business. They have experienced phenomenal growth in recent years, which shows no signs of slowing down, and as a result, they are expanding their team at their Birmingham head office.

Role Responsibilities:

1. Deliver a commercially focused product range within non-food grocery that meets company and team targets, maintaining a strategic focus for continued growth.
2. Build and maintain strong relationships with large FMCG suppliers and smaller independent suppliers.
3. Sourcing suppliers and negotiating the best cost prices.
4. Analyze sales figures to plan successful future lines.
5. Review stock levels of own brand products, ensuring availability and minimizing risk.
6. Present reports, figures, and trend information to the Senior Management team.
7. Resolve problems related to damaged or expired products.
8. Analyze market trends and competitor activity.

Key Requirements:

1. Previous experience within a retail environment.
2. Effective influencing and negotiation skills.
3. Ability to adapt quickly in a fast-paced, ever-changing FMCG market.
4. Excellent communication skills for effective liaising at all levels.
5. Good understanding of budgets and managing conflicting projects.
6. Proficiency in MS Office, including advanced Excel skills.
