Currently looking for an ambitious and driven Buyer to join a successful family-run retail business. They have experienced phenomenal growth in recent years, which shows no signs of slowing down, and as a result, they are expanding their team at their Birmingham head office.

You will be responsible for delivering a commercially focused product range within non-food grocery that meets both company and team targets, while maintaining a strategic business focus to ensure continued growth within the categories.

1. Building & maintaining strong relationships with both large FMCG suppliers and smaller independent suppliers
2. Sourcing suppliers & negotiating best cost prices
3. Analyzing sales figures to plan successful future lines
4. Reviewing levels of own brand stock & ensuring adequate levels are available while minimizing risk
5. Presenting reports, figures & trend information to the Senior Management team
6. Dealing with and resolving problems/queries related to damaged or out-of-date products
7. Analyzing market trends and competitor activity

Key requirements for the role:

• Previous experience within a retail environment
• Ability to influence and negotiate effectively
• Ability to adapt swiftly in a fast-paced, ever-changing FMCG market
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to liaise effectively at all levels
• Good working knowledge of budgets and managing conflicting projects
• Excellent understanding of all MS Office products, including advanced Excel
