Chase & Holland are proud to be working with a highly successful and innovative manufacturing business based in Sheffield who are currently seeking an experienced Buyer to join their Supply Chain team on a permanent basis.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced procurement or purchasing professional to join a fast-paced business at an exciting time of change. The successful candidate will take responsibility for sourcing and purchasing materials and components, managing supplier relationships and supporting continuous improvement across the purchasing function.
The business has recently introduced a new MRP system, transforming what was previously a largely manual purchasing process. With some changes within the existing team, they are looking for an experienced Buyer who can hit the ground running, provide immediate support and become a key member of the Supply Chain function.
A manufacturing or engineering background would be advantageous, although candidates from other product-based purchasing environments with transferable experience will also be considered. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is commercially focused, comfortable with change and keen to develop their career within a growing and progressive organisation.

Buyer Responsibilities:
- Sourcing materials, components and services to meet business and manufacturing requirements
- Obtaining and benchmarking quotations to ensure competitive pricing, service and value
- Developing and maintaining strong relationships with UK and international suppliers
- Negotiating pricing, payment terms, contracts and service agreements
- Sourcing new components using material specifications, technical requirements and engineering drawings
- Supporting new product introduction projects, including supplier selection, tooling, sampling and production readiness
- Identifying, assessing and onboarding new suppliers in line with quality and performance requirements
- Monitoring supplier performance against agreed KPIs and driving improvements where required
- Identifying opportunities for cost reduction, standardisation and process improvement
- Supporting supplier risk management, contingency planning and dual-sourcing initiatives
- Supporting inventory optimisation, supplier lead-time improvements and working capital objectives
- Producing purchasing reports, market analysis and supplier performance information
Required Skills & Experience:
- Previous experience within a Buyer, Purchasing, Procurement or Supply Chain role
- Strong practical experience managing supplier relationships
- Proven negotiation and commercial skills
- Experience sourcing materials, components, products or services
- Strong analytical and problem-solving ability
- Experience using ERP/MRP systems
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills
- Ability to interpret technical specifications and engineering drawings
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to work effectively with stakeholders across Operations, Quality, Finance and Supply Chain
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- A proactive approach to identifying problems and implementing improvements
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and adapting to changing processes
- Commercially aware, with strong attention to detail
- Confident challenging suppliers and internal stakeholders where required
- Manufacturing or engineering experience would be highly advantageous
- Experience within a product-based purchasing environment would be considered
- Experience supporting NPI projects would be advantageous
- Knowledge of strategic sourcing and supplier performance management would be beneficial
- CIPS qualification or working towards one would be advantageous but is not essential
