Job summary

SF Partners in Sheffield is seeking a Buyer to join its Supply Chain team. The role is varied and hands-on, managing a portfolio of suppliers and supporting purchasing, supplier performance, cost reduction, and material availability.

You will run RFQs, negotiate pricing, manage POs and expediting through MRP, monitor supplier performance, and identify new suppliers to improve cost, quality and delivery. A strong focus on cost-saving and collaboration with internal stakeholders is required.

Qualifications

• Experience as Buyer or in Supply Chain within manufacturing or engineering environments.
• Strong negotiation and supplier management skills.
• Excel/IT skills and ability to problem-solve under pressure.
• High attention to detail and accuracy.

SF Recruitment are working with an established engineering/manufacturing business in Sheffield to recruit a Buyer into their Supply Chain team. This is a varied, hands-on role where you will manage your own portfolio of suppliers, supporting the wider business across purchasing, supplier performance, cost reduction and material availability.

The Role

• Manage a portfolio of UK and international suppliers.
• Run RFQs, negotiate pricing and support supplier selection.
• Manage purchase orders, reschedules, cancellations and expediting through MRP.
• Monitor supplier performance, capacity and order books.
• Identify and introduce new suppliers to improve cost, quality and delivery.
• Negotiate pricing agreements and support longer-term supplier agreements.
• Identify and deliver cost-saving opportunities.
• Support subcontract purchasing when required.
• Monitor KPIs including supplier delivery and quality performance.
• Help reduce excess stock and improve inventory levels.
• Support import and export activity across the supply chain.
• Build strong relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.

About You

• Previous Buyer or Supply Chain experience ideally within Manufacturing or Engineering environmentsW
• Confident negotiator with strong supplier management skills
• You will also need strong attention to detail, good Excel/IT skills and the ability to problem-solve and work effectively under pressure.
