Job summary

Hunter Selection is seeking a commercially astute Buyer to work on a variety of projects within a fast-paced, dynamic team. Based in Newport, the role focuses on supplier selection, price negotiation and cost control for materials and services.

You will contribute to price trend analysis, source alternative suppliers, and ensure lead times are reflected in purchasing plans. The position offers a competitive salary and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years' experience working as a Buyer / Purchaser within a manufacturing environment.
• Commercially astute with an ability to work to tight deadlines.
• HNC level qualification; CIPS certification would be an added bonus.

Responsibilities

• Select suppliers and negotiate prices for materials and services to achieve cost effectiveness.
• Analyze supplier price changes and report while evaluating market trends to develop new services and create cost savings.
• Forecast market trends affecting material availability and ensure purchase requisitions reflect current supplier lead times.

They are looking to recruit a commercially astute Buyer to work on a variety of projects within this fast paced and dynamic team focused environment.

Position Overview

• You will work in a team based environment and be responsible for selecting suppliers and negotiating prices for materials and services required, in the most cost effective and efficient manner.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze, negotiate and report supplier price changes, whilst evaluating market trends to develop new services and creating cost savings.
• Select new and alternative sources of the supply of materials and services.
• Forecasting market trends affecting material and service availability - whilst ensuring all purchase requisitions and programmes are correct and reflect the current supplier's lead times.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

• At least 2 years' experience working as a Buyer / Purchaser within a manufacturing environment
• Commercially astute with an ability to work to tight deadlines
• Qualified to at least HNC level, CIPS certified would be an added bonus.
