Job Opening: Buyer - Peterborough

Job Purpose

To procure raw materials and components to meet manufacturing schedules, reduce costs, and enhance supply chain efficiency while delivering exceptional service.

Main Duties

1. Procurement & Cost Management: Purchasing raw materials and components to meet production schedules; identifying and implementing cost-saving initiatives and value engineering.
2. Supplier Relationships: Monitoring suppliers, conducting benchmarking, leading supplier meetings to improve KPIs, and resolving issues.
3. Process Optimization: Collaborating with Production, Engineering, and Scheduling teams to consolidate suppliers, mitigate risks, and streamline procurement processes.
4. Compliance & Reporting: Managing SLAs, Purchase Order schedules, and MRO spend; adhering to Health & Safety policies and company values.

Candidate Profile

• Experience in procurement within make-to-order environments; familiarity with MRP/ERP systems; strong negotiation and analytical skills.
• Engineering qualification or CIPS certification; knowledge of castings/raw materials procurement.
• Commercial acumen, good time management, and ability to lead supplier relationships.
