Job Purpose

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Buyer to join the dynamic procurement team at Siemens. This role is essential for ensuring the efficient and timely procurement of goods and services that meet the company’s operational needs.

As a Buyer, you will be responsible for creating purchase orders, schedules, and NTO contracts, while ensuring that suppliers meet performance and quality expectations. You will work closely with both internal stakeholders and external suppliers to achieve cost-effective procurement solutions and support decision-making processes.

Responsibilities

• Generate and manage purchase orders, schedules, and NTO (Non-Technical Order) contracts, ensuring all documents are created accurately and in a timely manner.
• Ensure that all orders align with company specifications and operational requirements.
• Build and nurture strong, long-term relationships with suppliers to ensure smooth procurement operations and effective communication.
• Monitor supplier performance and take corrective action where necessary to resolve any issues related to quality or delivery.
• Work closely with interrelated departments (e.g., finance, production, logistics) to ensure the procurement process supports the overall business objectives.
• Collaborate with internal teams to optimize the total cost of ownership (TCO) and streamline procurement processes.
• Ensure all procurement activities adhere to the company’s compliance and governance frameworks, following mandated processes and procedures.
• Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to procurement and ensure consistent achievement of targets.
• Support a culture of continuous improvement by identifying and implementing process enhancements that lead to greater efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
• In the event of supplier non-conformance, lead or assist in conducting root cause analysis and ensure the implementation of corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date data in SAP or other relevant procurement systems.
• Generate reports and provide data-driven insights to support procurement decisions and internal reporting requirements.

Qualifications/Experience

• CIPS Certification (Desirable): Ideally, candidates will have or be working toward the Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS) certification, although this is not a strict requirement.
• Experience: Proven experience in a purchasing or procurement role, ideally within a similar industry or environment.
• Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in SAP or similar procurement software, with the ability to manage data and generate reports.
• Analytical Skills: Strong analytical abilities with a focus on data interpretation and decision support. Ability to assess cost implications, risks, and benefits of procurement choices.
• Communication and Negotiation: Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills, with the ability to manage supplier relationships and work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
• Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail in managing purchase orders, contracts, and supplier performance data.
• Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to addressing challenges and implementing effective solutions.
• Knowledge of Procurement Best Practices: Understanding of procurement processes, market trends, and cost-management strategies, with a drive to ensure compliance and deliver value.
