Who will you be working with?

We are seeking a Buyer to join our team in Doncaster. Our team supports customers through maintenance and operation optimisation with customised solutions for spare parts, repair, and overhaul activities on trains.

Role: Buyer

Location: Doncaster (On-site)

Hours: Monday to Thursday, 08:00 to 16:30, and Friday 08:00 to 13:00

Contract type: 12 Month Fixed Term Contract

Annual leave: 25 days plus bank holidays (including 8 bank holidays)

How will you make a difference?

Develop a product/commodity strategy for your assigned products/vendors. Guide buying activities to maximise sourcing and QCD benefits, ensuring alignment with strategies and procedures.

What will your typical day look like?

• Seek competitive prices from existing and new vendors.
• Manage end-to-end procurement, including sourcing, negotiating, and supplier performance management.
• Identify and implement cost-saving strategies.
• Collaborate with internal teams to align purchasing with business needs.
• Support supplier quality and delivery improvements.
• Provide customer-focused support for purchasing materials and services.
• Ensure timely delivery of materials and services aligned with budgets.
• Prepare and issue purchase orders accurately.
• Maintain records of purchases, pricing, and related data.

What do we want to know about you?

• Experience in buying, purchasing, or procurement within engineering/manufacturing.
• Strong negotiation skills.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Highly motivated and proactive decision-maker.
• Good IT skills (Excel, Outlook, Teams, Oracle preferred, PowerPoint).
• CIPS or IOSCM qualification is desirable.
