Join to apply for the Indirect Buyer - Goole Rail Village role at Siemens

Siemens is creating its first UK based Rail Industry Hub on the outskirts of Goole in the East Riding of Yorkshire. With an initial contract to assemble nearly 50 trains to service the Piccadilly line on the London Underground, we are starting to recruit up to 300 skilled technical and support colleagues in our Manufacturing Facility.

Follow-on work is expected to expand this number into the hundreds, with site expansion into maintenance and overhaul activities, demonstrating our long-term commitment to the area and growth in employment and career opportunities.

We are looking for a Purchasing Operative focused on indirect materials to join the Logistics team in Goole. As an indirect Purchasing Operative, you will ensure the cost-efficient and timely supply of indirect materials, aligned with factory requirements.

How you will make an impact:
  1. You will process purchase requests and ensure the on-time arrival of direct and indirect materials.
  2. You will engage with internal and external stakeholders in the supply chain, communicating requirements, updates, and concerns.
  3. You will analyze data, including sales and consumption data from vendor-managed inventory solutions, and relay information to stakeholders.
Demonstrate:
  1. Knowledge of the material purchasing process, including RFQs, negotiations, purchase orders, and handling invoice discrepancies.
  2. Strong data analysis skills, intermediate to advanced Excel skills, and experience with MRP systems like SAP.
  3. Excellent communication and people skills, with attention to detail.
  4. Negotiation skills and experience in cost savings.
  5. A proactive, self-starting attitude.
Beneficial to have:
  1. Experience with indirect or direct materials in the Rail industry.
  2. Experience with Vendor Managed Inventory and manufacturing environments.
  3. Monitoring supplier performance and KPIs.
  4. International supply chain experience.
  5. CIPS qualification or working towards it.
