Job summary

Right Now Recruitment is working with an established manufacturing business in Henfield to recruit a Materials Buyer. The role supports purchasing and production, raising purchase orders, monitoring stock and ensuring materials are available to meet customer deadlines.

You will work closely with Production, Planning and suppliers to manage orders, chase deliveries and resolve supplier queries, with a focus on improving purchasing processes and supplier relationships.

Qualifications

• Experience raising and managing purchase orders.
• Stock control and production material planning.
• Strong supplier communication and negotiation skills.
• Experience with ERP/MRP or purchasing systems.

Responsibilities

• Raising and managing purchase orders for materials, components and production requirements.
• Sourcing materials and obtaining quotations from approved and new suppliers.
• Monitoring stock levels and ensuring materials are available to meet production requirements.
• Liaising with suppliers to confirm pricing, availability and delivery times.
• Tracking outstanding orders and proactively resolving delays or shortages.
• Working closely with Production and Planning teams to understand upcoming material requirements.
• Maintaining accurate purchasing, supplier and stock records.
• Reviewing supplier performance, pricing and delivery to identify opportunities for improvement.
• Supporting the resolution of quality, delivery and purchasing issues.
• Ensuring purchase orders and associated documentation are accurate and processed on time.
• Supporting stock takes and maintaining appropriate stock levels.
• Identifying opportunities to improve purchasing processes, costs and supplier relationships.

Materials Buyer Key Responsibilities:

Production Buyer - Highly Desirable:

• Previous experience within Buying, Purchasing, Procurement or Supply Chain.
• Experience working within a manufacturing, production, engineering, construction or joinery environment would be advantageous.
• Experience raising and managing purchase orders.
• Strong supplier communication and negotiation skills.
• Experience using an ERP, MRP or purchasing system would be advantageous.
