Job summary

Fourblue, a fast-growing civil engineering and utilities specialist, is seeking a Buyer to support its expanding procurement function in Coventry, UK. You will procure specialist materials, manage suppliers and subcontract services for utility and civil engineering projects, negotiating alignments with NEC contracts and ensuring value and on-time delivery.

Qualifications

  • Experience in procurement within utilities, civil engineering, construction or infrastructure environments.
  • Strong supplier management and commercial negotiation skills.
  • Knowledge of NEC contracts and construction procurement processes.
  • Understanding of SROH and NRSWA requirements.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems and Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

  • Procure specialist utility materials across electricity, water, gas and civil engineering projects.
  • Source and manage suppliers for ducts, protection systems, chambers, covers, pipework and related materials.
  • Procure civil engineering and reinstatement materials including aggregates, concrete, asphalt and drainage products.
  • Negotiate pricing, rebates and supplier frameworks to maximise value.
  • Support estimating and tender activities with accurate quotations.
  • Manage procurement schedules, long lead-time items and urgent operational requirements.

A fast-growing civil engineering and utilities specialist, delivering high-quality infrastructure solutions across the UK. They provide innovative, sustainable and cost-effective solutions across utilities, civil engineering and reinstatement projects.

Due to continued growth, they are now looking to appoint an experienced Buyer to support their expanding procurement function.

The Role

As Buyer, you will play a key role in supporting the delivery of multiple utility and civil engineering projects by managing the procurement of specialist materials, subcontract services and supplier relationships. Ensuring materials and services are sourced competitively, delivered efficiently and aligned with project requirements.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced procurement professional with a background in utilities, civil engineering or infrastructure to join a growing business and make a significant impact within the supply chain function.

Key Responsibilities

  • Procure specialist utility materials across electricity, water, gas and civil engineering projects.
  • Source and manage suppliers for products including ducting, cable protection systems, chambers, access covers, pipework, fittings and associated infrastructure materials.
  • Procure civil engineering and reinstatement materials including aggregates, concrete products, asphalt, paving, drainage products and highway reinstatement materials.
  • Negotiate competitive pricing agreements, rebates and supplier frameworks to maximise commercial value.
  • Support estimating and tender activities by obtaining accurate material and subcontract quotations.
  • Manage procurement schedules, long lead-time items and urgent operational requirements.
  • Maintain accurate procurement records, purchase orders and supplier information.

About You

  • Procurement experience within utilities, civil engineering, construction or infrastructure environments.
  • Strong experience managing suppliers, subcontractors and commercial negotiations.
  • Good understanding of construction and utility materials procurement.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities within a fast-paced operational environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and procurement/ERP systems.
  • Knowledge of SROH and NRSWA requirements.
  • Understanding of NEC contracts and construction procurement processes.
  • Experience managing regional supplier frameworks.
  • Background working with DNO, IDNO, water, gas or infrastructure clients.
