Gama Aviation is recruiting a Buyer to join the Supply Chain team at Staverton Airport, Cheltenham. Reporting to the Head of Procurement, you will procure aircraft parts, services, COSHH and tooling to support MRO across UK facilities.

This role requires proactive problem solving, on-time ordering, and flexibility to support out-of-hours AOG rosters. You will work closely with engineering and maintenance teams to optimise stock, manage supplier performance, and ensure regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

Experience working within purchasing in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build relationships with suppliers.

Responsibilities

Manage day-to-day procurement tasks within the Supply Chain, maintaining strong supplier relationships and customer service.

Ensure cores are returned to suppliers and manage rotable pool effectively.

Position: Buyer

Location: Staverton Airport, Cheltenham

Working Hours: 10.30am – 7pm, Monday - Friday

Gama Aviation is currently recruiting for a Buyer to join our expanding Supply Chain team at our base facility in Staverton Airport, Cheltenham. Reporting to the Head of Procurement, the team of Buyers are responsible for the procurement of all aircraft parts, services, commercial stock, COSHH and tooling products to support the Gama Aviation Maintenance Repair and Overhaul (MRO) across all UK facilities.

Due to the expansion and growth of the department, the Buyer will be required to operate from Staverton MRO offices, covering a 10.30am – 7pm window. In addition to this, the role will require flexibility to cover out of hours AOG requirements, as part of a team roster.

The Buyer needs to be proactive in problem solving, resolution and flexible in their approach to work to ensure parts and services are ordered on-time and as required to meet the customer and engineering expectations and the delivery of aircraft.

Responsibilities:

Managing the Supply Chain delivery making sure the day-to-day tasks are carried out, whilst maintaining good working relationships and practice in the procurement department, ensuring an exceptional level of customer service with both internal and external customers
Supply Chain Control- To continually review supply chain activities to achieve the most cost-effective solution for the Company, taking into account customer demands both internal and external, compliance with regulatory requirements and product support
Repairable Parts Control – Ensuring cores are returned to the suppliers as well as obtaining cores from customers in a timely manner
Sale of Spares & Services including quoting and invoicing customers. Manage and develop a strong rotable pool.
Compliance & Procedure - Ensure compliance with Part 145 and Part 21 and all other relevant regulatory requirements within the procurement and materials management functions
Manage Supplier Audit of active suppliers within our business system in line with mandated audit requirements.
Managing Budgets – Work within approved financial budgets, taking appropriate action when variances arise.
Engineering Support - Liaise with the Engineering on the pre-provisioning of aircraft spares in line with business demand. Understand priority spares in conjunction with engineering leads.
Attend Company Meetings - Ensure minutes are recorded and information is passed back onto the department.
Supplier Liaison - Maintain/Monitor suppliers and purchase orders (PO) to ensure delivery is within an acceptable timeframe and escalate where necessary
Management of Stock - In conjunction with Maintenance teams, regularly review stock holdings within the Bonded Store to identify excess / slow moving / obsolete stock, taking appropriate action to reduce this stock and minimising any negative impact to the Company; as well as instigating processes and procedures to prevent or reduce the potential for this to occur or exceed pre-set levels
Deliver accurate and representative stock holdings iaw recognised calculations and provisions.
Coordinate with the support of the Stores function the distribution of stock across the business, its outstations and its special missions’ locations.
Ensure all 3rd party cores are observed and returned to retailers as mandated by time scale.
Ensure accuracy of all orders inclusive of cost, purchasing method and linked requisitions.
Review and set stock levels on a periodic basis for all locations.
Rebid services where substandard performance is experienced.
Daily, weekly and monthly reporting to the Head of Procurement statistics on supplier performance.
Support project reporting and governance against performance KPIs.
Ensure that appropriate certification for sub-contractors is in place in conjunction with compliance prior to contracting. Ensure risk assessments are in place for all sub-contractors prior to contracting with them.
Ensure within the procurement of items all COSSH and REACH regulations are maintained and followed for current part numbers
Support the Value for money provisioning of major procurement activities involving Capex purchases.
Conduct appropriate claims for contract / warranty items
Report data to key OEM’s in line with our obligations as authorised service centres / partners
Manage all ad-hoc purchasing requirements including indirect acquisitions
Act as focal point for Financial disputes or errors including the management or supplier debts / overdue items as the first point of contact.
Ensure compliance with Import and export regulations including EAR / ITAR / UK SPIRE requirements.
Investigate and support any Supplier quality issues including paperwork errors.
Support in the resolution of IQSMS reports.
Conduct Supplier visits to local sites or supplier premises to develop relationships and arrest any poor performance.
Be the subject matter expert for requisitions on all sites (including Europe and Sharjah) provide support when required to these sites.
Support the update and management of procurement and supply chain processes in line with any updates.
Provide AOG cover during holiday/absence and flexibility for AOG requirements.
