Staffordshire County Council, Business Support is key to the success of our Children's Services because our Business Support teams are there, making sure things run smoothly, so that our frontline colleagues can deliver for children and their families in the community. All that work in the background just doesn't happen, it takes dedicated colleagues, taking pride in their work and seeing a purpose in the work they are doing.

This is a full-time permanent post based at the Old House, Eastern Avenue, Lichfield. We are an administration team of 18 who are predominantly office based, although home working is arranged on a rota basis dependent on the demands of the service.

Main Responsibilities

Being a first point of contact for practitioners so that children, families and partners and stakeholders are provided with a professional/knowledgeable response to enquiries in a timely manner.

Providing support advice and guidance to practitioners in the use of IT and related software including basic induction into systems and processes.

You will provide core business functions in addition to working closely with a range of Practitioner Leads, Team Managers, Family Practitioners, Processionals and Partners.

You will need full knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 and the ability to utilise the main applications.

Flexibility and team work is required as this role with be a generic one so will require you to transfer between teams as and when required, full training will be provided.

The Ideal Candidate

Working in Business Support requires teamwork, good organisational skills and a good level of competency using IT systems. You’ll also need:

Level II in Business Administration or equivalent qualification

An IT qualification equivalent to the competency level of ECDL or equivalent

Good communication skills because you’ll interact with lots of people across the organisation and externally through phone, in person and email

Good organisation skills and attention to detail, as you’ll be keeping data updated and you’ll be working to deadlines

A flexible approach to work as sometimes things can change and so you’ll need to be able to prioritise work and sometimes change tasks quickly
