Join to apply for the Business Safety Specialist role at Arriva Group.

We are seeking a highly motivated and proactive individual with excellent organisational and interpersonal skills to join the Grand Central Safety team as a Business Safety Specialist on a permanent contract.

This position can be based in Wakefield, York, or Sunderland, with flexibility to work across the Grand Central network, Arriva partners, and occasionally remotely. The role involves working with operational, fleet management, and traincrew teams on our train services.

Key responsibilities:

• Coordinate and provide operational and safety guidance at traincrew depots, offices, and maintenance depots.
• Support accident and incident investigations, ensuring documentation is obtained.
• Provide technical safety support.
• Collect operational safety performance data and support safety reporting.
• Develop risk management and safe system of work processes.
• Support the annual audit plan.
• Assist with operational, safety, and environmental training for GC staff.
• Lead safety projects and investigate new solutions.

Requirements for success:

• NEBOSH certificate or equivalent.
• Knowledge of operational rules, regulations, and safety standards.
• Initiative and teamwork skills.
• Accident/incident investigation qualification (desirable).
• Industry recognised training qualification (desirable).

Additional training will be provided as needed.
