If so, we have an exciting opportunity in the Grand Central Safety team as a Business Safety Specialist on a permanent contract. We are looking for a talented individual who is highly motivated and proactive with excellent organisational and interpersonal skills.
This position can be based out of any of our locations including Wakefield, York, or Sunderland, with the flexibility to work across the Grand Central network, Arriva partners, and occasionally remotely. It will also involve working with our Operational, Fleet Management and Traincrew team’s mobile on our train services.

What will I be doing as a Business Safety Specialist?
Coordinate and provide operations and safety guidance at traincrew depots, offices and maintenance depots
Supporting accident and incident investigations whilst ensuring all documentation related to incidents are obtained from managers and traincrew
Provide technical safety support
Collate operational safety performance information and support the production of the Grand Central safety performance report
Coordinate the development of specific company-wide or local risk management and safe system of work process.
Support the annual audit plan
Support all operational, safety and environmental training requirements for GC staff to include briefing packs and bulletins.
Lead on safety projects and have autonomy to investigate new solutions.
What will I need to be successful as a Business Safety Specialist?
NEBOSH certificate or equivalent
A knowledge of operational rules, regulations, instructions including company policies and standards for safe operations or work towards
Ability to use your initiative and work part of a team
A recognised accident/incident investigation qualification is desirable
Industry recognised training qualification is desirable
Specific additional training would be given, as required, to the right candidate.
