Job description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Business Relationship Director to join our team at Barclays. This pivotal role is designed to establish and nurture profitable partnerships with our clients, acting as the bridge between the bank’s offerings and the unique needs of our clients. You will work closely with senior stakeholders, providing tailored solutions that drive mutual benefit and long-term success.

To be successful as a Business Relationship Director, you should have experience with:

  • Managing senior stakeholder relationships, both internally and externally.
  • A great understanding of the financial products and services offered by banks, especially in private wealth management and credit solutions.
  • Previous experience of building considerable external networks.

Purpose of the role

To establish and nurture profitable partnerships with both corporate and individual clients. It's the bridge between the bank's offerings and clients' needs, ensuring mutual benefit and long-term success.

Accountabilities

  • Management of client relationships to identify the clients' financial goals, challenges, and risk tolerance, supporting data analysis from various sources to identify trends, insights, and areas for improvement.
  • Research and understanding of the client's industry trends, regulatory landscape, and competitive environment to inform strategic recommendations.
  • Design of customized solutions that address the client's specific needs and objectives, incorporating a range of products and services from the bank's portfolio.
  • Communication of the value proposition of proposed solutions, justification of recommendations, and negotiation of terms beneficial for both the client and the bank.
  • Provision of guidance to clients to support their financial decisions, offering expert investment advice, risk management, wealth management strategies, and market updates.
  • Assessment of financial, legal, and operational risks associated with client relationships, implementing measures to minimize potential losses.
  • Documentation of all client interactions, transactions, and agreements to ensure transparency and support product development and overall bank strategy.
  • Monitoring of client satisfaction, revenue, and other metrics to evaluate relationship management efforts.

Vice President Expectations

  • Contribute to strategy, drive requirements, and recommend changes. Plan resources, budgets, and policies; manage and maintain policies/processes; deliver continuous improvements and escalate breaches.
  • Manage teams by defining roles, planning for future needs, counseling on performance, and contributing to employee decisions. Lead specialists to influence operations, balance goals, and ensure budget and schedule adherence.
  • Demonstrate leadership behaviors such as listening, inspiring, aligning, and developing others to create a thriving environment.
  • For individual contributors, serve as subject matter experts, guide technical direction, lead assignments, and coach less experienced staff.
  • Advise stakeholders on functional and cross-functional impacts and alignment.
  • Manage and mitigate risks, demonstrate leadership in controls, and understand organizational functions to support business goals.
  • Collaborate across departments to stay aligned with business strategies.
  • Create solutions through sophisticated analysis and research, and build trusting relationships with stakeholders using influencing skills.
