What will you do on the programme?

Our projects span multiple markets, locations and clients, so coordination and collaboration are essential. On our Business Operations Management Graduate Programme, you’ll discover exactly how we make it all happen.

You’ll gain experience across a variety of business areas, from developing strategic initiatives and securing new business to managing projects, analysing contracts, supporting financial systems, or working with suppliers to deliver results. Along the way, you’ll learn to break down complex challenges into clear, actionable steps, keeping projects on track and running smoothly.

By the end of the programme, you’ll have the skills, confidence, and insights to make a real difference across our organisation – and a strong foundation for a rewarding career in business operations.

How is the programme structured?

Over two years, you’ll gain experience across a variety of business areas, including business development, bidding and strategic initiatives, finance, procurement, HR, commercial operations, leadership, and management.

In every placement, you’ll be an integral part of the team, taking ownership of meaningful tasks and directly contributing to creating a safe and secure world.

How do we develop and support you?

From day one, you’ll receive structured support, personalised training, and dedicated mentorship to help you excel throughout your programme and beyond. You’ll join our Graduate Development Programme, featuring expert-led masterclasses on communication, personal branding, resilience, and wellbeing.

What’s waiting for you after the programme?

Upon completing the programme, you'll transition into a permanent role within Business Operations, ready to take on greater responsibility and lead on projects that matter.

From there, your development doesn’t stop. We’ll support you as you grow into more senior roles and take on greater responsibility. Through the Babcock Role Framework, you’ll have a clear view of how your career can progress, with mapped-out pathways, development opportunities and the tools you need to get wherever you want to go.

What rewards and benefits will you get?

We want you to feel supported, valued and excited about what’s ahead. That’s why we offer a comprehensive package designed to support your development, your wellbeing and your life outside of work too.

In addition to a minimum starting salary of £35,000, you’ll benefit from:

  • A minimum of 25 days of holiday plus bank holidays
  • Generous pension and employee share schemes
  • Flexible benefits, including cycle to work scheme, discounts
  • Wellbeing support, covering mental, physical, financial, and social wellbeing, with services like our Employee Assistance Programme, digital GP service, and health checks.

You’ll also have the chance to get involved in our STEM outreach activities and volunteering opportunities.

What do you need to apply?
  • You'll need to have achieved, or be on track to achieve, an (Hons) undergraduate or postgraduate degree in any subject.
Many of our programmes are subject to Security Clearance and Trade Control restrictions which mean that your place of birth, nationality, citizenship, or residency you hold or have held may impact which programmes you are eligible for. For this programme, you must be able to achieve and maintain Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) and Security Check (SC) security clearance. For further details, visit GOV.UK and search ‘United Kingdom Security Vetting: clearance levels’.
Where will you be based?

Places on our Business Operations Management programme for September 2027 are available in our Land sector.

Our Land sector employs close to 6,000 skilled personnel who deliver complex and critical services to civil and military organisations worldwide. This includes the fleet management and maintenance of equipment for the British Army, London Fire Brigade and Metropolitan Police; training for submariners, pilots, engineers, army personnel, drivers, operators, maintainers, police officers and firefighters; the manufacturing of over 1,000 armoured vehicles; and playing a key role in decarbonising the railway and delivering national critical rail infrastructure.

While we have locations across the UK, graduates tend to be based in Bristol, London, Holyhead, Walsall and Gloucester. We ask that you are ready and willing to relocate to other sites throughout your programme.
