Job summary

Babcock invites applications for its Business Operations Management Graduate Programme at HM Naval Base Clyde in Scotland. The two-year rotation covers business development, finance, procurement and leadership, with structured support and expert masterclasses.

You’ll join a programme starting September 2027, with a minimum salary of £35,000 and on-site work most weeks. Successful applicants must hold a qualifying undergraduate or postgraduate degree and be able to achieve BPSS and SC security

What will you do on the programme?

Our projects span multiple markets, locations and clients, so coordination and collaboration are essential. On our Business Operations Management Graduate Programme, you’ll discover exactly how we make it all happen.

You’ll gain experience across a variety of business areas, from developing strategic initiatives and securing new business to managing projects, analysing contracts, supporting financial systems, or working with suppliers to deliver results. Along the way, you’ll learn to break down complex challenges into clear, actionable steps, keeping projects on track and running smoothly.

By the end of the programme, you’ll have the skills, confidence, and insights to make a real difference across our organisation – and a strong foundation for a rewarding career in business operations.

How is the programme structured?

Over two years, you’ll gain experience across a variety of business areas, including business development, bidding and strategic initiatives, finance, procurement, HR, commercial operations, leadership, and management.

In every placement, you’ll be an integral part of the team, taking ownership of meaningful tasks and directly contributing to creating a safe and secure world.

You’ll join our Graduate Development Programme, featuring expert-led masterclasses on communication, personal branding, resilience, and wellbeing.

Upon completing the programme, you'll transition into a permanent role within Business Operations, ready to take on greater responsibility and lead on projects that matter.

What do you need to apply?
  • You’ll need to have achieved, or be on track to achieve, an (Hons) undergraduate or postgraduate degree in any subject.

Where will you be based?

Places on our Business Operations Management programme for September 2027 are available at HM Naval Base Clyde in Scotland.

Babcock’s HM Naval Base Clyde operation provides highly specialist engineering support services, including the management of critical infrastructure and nuclear facilities. We also deliver operational maintenance, upgrades and repairs to support Royal Navy vessels, including the Vanguard and Astute-Class nuclear submarines based in Scotland.

We offer agile working, giving you some flexibility, but you can expect to spend several days a week on-site as part of your role and development. By your start date, you must be able to reliably commute to the site. This will normally require living within a reasonable commuting distance of HM Naval Base Clyde or relocating before you join us.

Once you’ve successfully completed the programme, you’ll continue your career in the same location, so it’s worth considering this when applying.
