Job summary

Cambridgeshire County Council is recruiting for a Business Officer (HAF) to support the administration of the Holiday Activities and Food programme in Papworth Everard. The role is 29.6 hours per week, fixed term to 31 March 2029, with hybrid working from Sunley House and home.

You will help manage data, respond to enquiries, and process provider documentation using Excel, Word and Teams, while maintaining high accuracy and meeting deadlines.

About the role

We currently have a 29.6 hours a week (29 hours, 36 minutes), Business Officer post available, working for the Early Years, Childcare and School Readiness Service. The post is fixed term until 31.03.29.

The Business Officer (HAF) plays a key role in supporting the delivery of the Cambridgeshire Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) Programme, helping to make a positive difference to children, young people and families across the county. Working closely with the HAF Coordinator and wider team, you will support the administration, coordination and delivery of the programme. We are a small, busy team managing a high volume of enquiries, data and provider information, so the successful candidate will need to be highly organised, able to prioritise competing demands and maintain a high level of accuracy while working at pace.

Interviews will take place on Tuesday 29 September at Sunley House, Summers Hill Drive, Papworth Everard, Cambridge, CB23 3AB.

This post will be based Sunley House but we are a flexible employer and support hybrid working from the office and at home.

What will you be doing?

In this role, you will:

  • Support the administration systems and processes of the HAF Programme, ensuring information is accurate and processed efficiently.
  • Manage and maintain data, records and payments to HAF providers using spreadsheets and other digital systems.
  • Respond to enquiries from families and providers, delivering timely, professional support.
  • Process provider documentation accurately and within agreed deadlines using Microsoft Excel, Word and Teams.
  • Support the team to meet programme deadlines through effective organisation, prioritisation and attention to detail.
About you

You will have recent and substantial experience working in a business support environment, with a proven ability to manage a varied workload while maintaining excellent attention to detail and accuracy.

You will be confident using the internet and Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and particularly Excel, and will have experience maintaining records, processing information and working to deadlines. You will be self-motivated, organised, efficient, flexible and resilient, with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.

You will also demonstrate experience of providing a positive and sensitive service to members of the public and building effective working relationships with colleagues and external partners. An understanding of the HAF Programme and a commitment to its aims and values would be advantageous.
