Job summary

Career Legal is seeking a Business Development Specialist to support Partners across the UK and US, focusing on disputes, litigation and international arbitration. The role offers visibility, direct access to Partners, and a lean team culture in a hybrid London office.

You will shape the BD program, build key relationships, and drive growth across major jurisdictions with hands-on involvement in pitches, events, and thought leadership.

Qualifications

• Proven BD, marketing or client development experience in a law firm, disputes or international arbitration.
• Strong grasp of how arbitration and cross-border disputes markets operate.
• Excellent written and verbal communication to engage senior partners and GCs.
• Self-starter mindset: capable of running with a brief and setting priorities in a lean team.
• Strong organisational skills with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute a BD strategy for London disputes practice across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and the US.
• Identify and pursue new instructions in international arbitration (ICC, LCIA, IC).
• Build and nurture relationships with referral sources including co-counsel, funders, insurers, and other law firms.
• Prepare tailored pitches, credentials, tender responses, and RFP submissions.
• Plan and manage events, webinars, and thought-leadership content.
• Work with marketing on LinkedIn, publications, directory submissions and awards.
• Track market developments and client intelligence to spot opportunities early.
• Report on pipeline, conversion and ROI to the partners.
