Unilabs, a leading provider of Pharmaceutical and Diagnostic services, is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Business Development Manager (BDM) to join our team. The BDM will serve as the key front-line ambassador for Unilabs by identifying and cultivating new business opportunities within the sectors of discovery, pre-clinical, and clinical research. This role is instrumental in bridging the gap between our specialised service portfolio and potential client from innovative biotech startups to established pharmaceutical companies.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the R&D/clinical lifecycle as well as exceptional communication and relationship-building skills. In addition, they will work closely with our scientific teams, operations, marketing, legal, and quality along with other cross-functional groups to translate market insights into strategic business development initiatives that drive long-term growth for the organisation.

The primary responsibilities of this role encompass a variety of tasks that are integral to the success of our team. You will be expected to actively engage in the planning, execution, and oversight of projects, ensuring that we meet our objectives within the stipulated timelines. Furthermore, your role will involve collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to gather insights, share progress, and implement improvements. A key aspect of this position is also to analyze data and feedback to inform decision-making processes, thereby contributing to our continuous improvement efforts. Additionally, you will be responsible for maintaining clear and consistent communication with stakeholders, ensuring they are kept informed of developments and any potential challenges that may arise. Your contributions will be essential in achieving our overall mission and promoting a productive team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Prospecting and Lead Generation:
    • ·Conduct detailed market research and identify target accounts within the discovery, pre-clinical, and clinical research domains.
    • Generate qualified leads through proactive outreach (cold calls, MQL’s emails, social media engagement) and follow up on inbound inquiries.
    • Qualify leads from marketing initiatives and convert them into viable sales opportunities.
  • Client Engagement:
    • Initiate and nurture relationships with potential clients, effectively communicating the unique value proposition and capabilities of Unilabs Pharma Solutions.
    • Schedule and lead discovery calls and meetings to understand client needs and articulate tailored solutions.
  • Pipeline Development and Management:
    • Qualify prospects rigorously and manage the sales pipeline using CRM & MS Office software, ensuring accurate forecasting and tracking of key metrics.
    • Collaborate with Contracts & Proposals, project management and senior leadership to convert qualified leads into long-term partnerships.
  • Strategic Communication and Collaboration:
    • Liaise with internal teams (marketing, operations, quality, logistics, project management) to align client feedback with ongoing service developments and market trends
    • Prepare and deliver compelling presentations and proposals that effectively showcase Unilabs’ service offerings in drug discovery (end to end life cycle).
  • Industry Networking and Representation:
    • Actively participate in industry conferences/exhibtions, workshops, and networking events to expand professional contacts and elevate brand visibility.
    • Stay current on industry developments, competitor activities, and emerging trends to keep the organisation at the forefront of research innovations.
  • Reporting and Continuous Improvement:
    • Provide regular updates and detailed reports on sales activities and business development strategies to leadership, driving continuous process improvement within the team.
    • Monitor and analyse the performance of outreach initiatives, making data-driven recommendations to refine the strategy over time.
  • General Administration:
    • Establish and maintain excellent communication channels with customers, internal staff and the wider Unilabs community.
    • Gather customer feedback and communicate this to the relevant teams (ensuring always that the CRM is up to date)
    • Provide Sales management information to a high standard and in a timely manner via a monthly report and weekly 1:1 sessions.
  • BSc/MSc in Life Sciences, Biotechnology, Biomedical, Pharmacy or related field;
  • Fluent in English;
  • Scientific sales experience;
  • Ability to travel;
  • Business Development Manager with 3-5 years;
  • Proven experience in account management and business development within the clinical services sectors or equivalent;
  • Familiarity/use of sales CRM;
  • Competent in the use of MS Office products;
  • People orientated, able to work collaboratively with cross-functional team, attention to detail;
  • Ability to find solutions to allow us to accommodate customer requests, desire to create a legacy of new business and to take responsibility.
