An exciting opportunity has arisen with a leading UK electronics manufacturing provider based in North England – our client is seeking a Business Development Manager to enhance and develop customer relationships, drive business growth, and lead new business development across North England.

Key responsibilities of the Business Development Manager based in North England:

  1. Identify, qualify, and win new business opportunities across target markets, with a 60% focus on hunting new customers and 40% on key account management
  2. Build and manage a strong sales pipeline focused on PCB assembly, contract manufacturing, surface mount, box build, and sheet metal services
  3. Expand relationships with existing customers to maximise business potential across design, production, and quality divisions
  4. Collaborate closely with Estimating and Production teams to ensure competitive, timely quotes and customer satisfaction
  5. Respond promptly to sales enquiries and follow up proactively
  6. Coordinate business development efforts across all group divisions and maintain strong internal stakeholder relationships
  7. Provide regular updates on prospects and projects to senior management, including opportunity tracking, sales forecasting, and CRM maintenance
  8. Deliver monthly and quarterly sales KPIs and contribute to sales strategy and growth plans
  9. Operate independently managing a remote territory covering North England (north of Stafford) and south of Scotland, with hybrid/remote working arrangements

Skills and experience required for the Business Development Manager based in North England:

  1. Provable experience in electronics manufacturing sales, preferably contract manufacturing or PCB assembly
  2. Proven track record of successful new business development and key account management
  3. Strong commercial awareness and target-driven mindset with excellent negotiation, communication, and presentation skills
  4. Established network of contacts within the PCB and defence sectors is essential
  5. Self-starter, highly motivated, able to work independently and on the road
  6. Fully computer literate with mainstream software proficiency
  7. Full UK driving licence required
  8. Degree qualified (preferred but not essential)
  9. Experience selling into Medical Device, Aerospace, Military & Defence, Life Science, Space, Automotive, Telecommunications, Oil & Gas, Renewable Energy, Maritime, Industrial Equipment, or Networking sectors
  10. Familiarity with integrated manufacturing environments offering design, manufacturing, and assembly services
