Business Development Manager
Salary & Benefits: 40-45k + 10% bonus scheme + 25 days holiday (plus BH) + Company car + Laptop and Phone for home office
Our client, one of the world's largest manufacturers and suppliers of high-quality perforated metal products, is looking for a Business Development Manager to join them on a permanent basis, covering the UK, with a preferred location being the Midlands.
Responsibilities:
- Targeted approach towards defined industry segments, including Industrial Processing and Building.
- Manage the direct sales process to achieve budget and performance targets, developing profitable accounts with high-quality service, and building long-term relationships through quality sales calls and visits to new and existing customers.
- Identify, qualify, secure, develop, and retain potential new customers to achieve sustainable, profitable sales growth within the territory.
- Possess and apply detailed product knowledge and understand customer business requirements.
- Ensure market coverage, call plans, visit reports, and manage a healthy sales funnel with high conversion rates; represent the company at trade events and exhibitions.
- Implement local Go To Market plans, including CPD presentations to Architects and Contractors, maintain and update customer data, track leads, and operate the Salesforce CRM platform.
- Collaborate with Internal Sales Associates on customer solutions, pricing, and proposals to exceed customer expectations.
- Follow up proactively on quotations and provide regular feedback to ensure conversion.
- Execute commercial initiatives to meet sales targets and budget.
- Identify and develop new business opportunities, negotiating for improved margins.
- Manage current and potential medium and large accounts for sustainable growth.
- Build relationships with decision-makers and fulfill contractual commitments.
- Drive territory coverage and manage sales funnel effectively.
- Handle quotes, orders, claims, and complaints according to company processes.
- Develop account opportunity plans and monitor market trends, customer needs, and competitor activities.
- Plan and organize sales calls and visits, producing relevant reports.
- Maintain key account information and ensure data in CRM is current.
- Develop distribution and partner networks to enhance growth.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Ability to execute sales action plans and monitor personal performance.
- Skilled in account management across stakeholder levels.
- Proficient in negotiations and deal-making independently.
- Interest in technology; technical or commercial qualifications are advantageous.
- Experience in solution-based selling in a B2B environment.
- Effective in managing coverage, calls, and opportunities daily.
- Proven track record of driving profitable sales growth.
- Energetic, articulate, with excellent communication skills.
- Commercially savvy with an eye for growth opportunities.
- Knowledge of market practices, technology, and competition.
