Job summary

LRQA is a global assurance partner helping organizations manage risk and improve performance. The Business Development Manager will win new logos and drive project-based assessment work within the energy sector, building long-term client relationships.

Reporting to the UKI Head of Sales, this role focuses on market entry, opportunity creation, and delivering profitable growth through strategic bids and strong stakeholder engagement.

Qualifications

  • Proven success in winning new logo business and securing assessment-led projects in energy/renewables
  • Experience selling into complex organisations and managing bids/tenders
  • Ability to present technical and commercial solutions to senior stakeholders

Responsibilities

  • Identify and secure new logo clients for assessment services in energy/renewables
  • Develop proactive business development strategies to penetrate priority markets
  • Own end-to-end sales lifecycle from lead generation to contract award
  • Build senior-level relationships with target organisations
  • Lead strategic bids and tenders with clear pricing and value propositions
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure competitive, deliverable proposals
  • Maintain a robust pipeline with accurate forecasting and reporting
  • Meet or exceed monthly/quarterly/annual revenue targets
  • Maintain CRM hygiene and contribute to sales reporting
  • Represent LRQA at industry events and client workshops

Business Development Manager

Role Purpose:

Reporting to the UKI Head of Sales, Energy & Renewables, within the Energy Sector, the Business Development Manager is responsible for winning new logos and project-based assessment work across priority markets. This is a growth-critical role focused on market entry, opportunity creation, and converting complex projects into long-term client relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify, target, and secure new logo clients for assessment services, with a strong focus on project-based opportunities
  • Develop and execute proactive business development strategies to penetrate this customer segment
  • Own the full sales lifecycle from lead generation through qualification, bid submission, negotiation and contract award
  • Build senior-level relationships with key stakeholders within target organisations
  • Lead and contribute to strategic bids and tenders, shaping technical scope, commercial strategy and value propositions
  • Collaborate with internal technical, operations, and delivery teams to ensure proposals are competitive, deliverable and margin-aligned
  • Maintain a robust new business pipeline with accurate forecasting and reporting
  • Meet and exceed monthly, quarterly and annual revenue targets
  • Maintain CRM hygiene, forecast accurately and contribute to sales reporting
  • Represent the business at industry events, conferences and client workshops

What You'll Bring:

  • Strong technical and commercial understanding of assessment/inspection/training opportunities
  • Experience selling into complex organisations
  • Demonstrable ability to originate and close high-value, project-based opportunities
  • Confidence presenting technical and commercial solutions to senior & executive stakeholders
  • Experience managing bids, tenders, and proposals, with a strong grasp of pricing strategy and margin control
