Our business is seeking an experienced and methodical Business Development Manager to cover South and South West England remotely, focusing on the builders merchant and tool hire sector.

Experience in the tool hire and merchant sector is essential.

The Business Development Manager will be responsible for initial interactions with new clients and onboarding, as well as developing existing accounts. This role involves inheriting a warm desk with legacy clients and initial significant billings.

The role involves selling a range of construction-related products to sub-contractors, house builders, and builders. Building relationships at all levels is crucial, and the role requires a natural salesperson.

Ideal candidates include experienced external sales consultants from a construction or builders merchant background. However, candidates from all sales backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

Internal sales personnel looking to build their own client base and earn substantial bonuses are also suitable.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  1. Regular communication and relationship building with key personnel in your customer base.
  2. Collaborating with Branch Managers to identify new sales opportunities.
  3. Linking with other branches and Key Account Managers as needed.
  4. Following up on potential opportunities.
  5. Acquiring new accounts and maximizing their potential.
  6. Maintaining and increasing margin levels where possible.
  7. Passing opportunities outside your area to the relevant branch.
  8. Responding to specific sales needs as outlined by management.
  9. Supporting marketing and promotional activities.
  10. Achieving sales and profit targets.
  11. Attending sales and other meetings as required.
  12. Effective diary management and accurate record-keeping.
  13. Assisting with pipeline planning with customers.
  14. Maintaining and cleansing your personal ledger.

Additional duties include assisting with stock takes, developing supplier relationships, and identifying new customer accounts. You will have authority to make trading and margin decisions within defined levels and work closely with other branches to optimize stock use.

Full training on company policies will be provided, but an understanding of the overall process is essential.
