Job description

Stoneline and Palezzo are seeking a proactive, commercially minded Business Development Manager to drive new business opportunities across the UK construction, property development and interior design sectors.

Stoneline specialises in premium natural stone, offering material supply, fabrication and installation for high-end residential, commercial and hospitality projects. Palezzo is our bespoke stone-composite surface brand, offering distinctive, customisable materials for architectural and interior applications.

This is a new-business-focused role for an individual who thrives on building relationships, identifying opportunities and developing a strong commercial network. The successful candidate will take ownership of their business development activity, proactively identifying prospective clients, initiating conversations and creating opportunities that translate into measurable revenue.

The role will focus on three core audiences: contractors, property developers and interior design practices, with a particular emphasis on expanding our relationships within the contractor and developer markets.

1.) Lead generation and business development:
  • Proactively identify, research and approach new business opportunities across the UK construction, property development and interior design sectors.
  • Develop and maintain a structured pipeline of prospective clients, including main contractors, specialist contractors, property developers, interior design studios and architecture practices.
  • Conduct regular outbound prospecting, including cold calling, targeted email outreach, LinkedIn engagement and face-to-face introductions.
  • Identify upcoming projects where natural stone or Palezzo surfaces could be specified, supplied or installed.
  • Establish relationships with key decision-makers, including commercial directors, procurement managers, project directors, estimators, design managers and interior design principals.
  • Arrange introductory meetings and develop opportunities from initial contact through to qualified project leads and commercial enquiries.
  • Maintain accurate records of prospecting activity, meetings, follow-ups and opportunities within the company's CRM or agreed reporting system.
2.) Contractor and Developer relationship development
  • Build a strong network of contractor and developer contacts, prioritising organisations undertaking premium residential, commercial, hospitality and mixed-use projects.
  • Identify contractors and developers with relevant project pipelines and establish Stoneline and Palezzo as preferred supply-chain and material partners.
  • Arrange introductory meetings with commercial, procurement, pre-construction and project teams.
  • Understand how contractors and developers procure, tender and appoint material suppliers, fabricators and installation partners.
  • Identify opportunities to register Stoneline and Palezzo with relevant procurement teams and approved supplier lists.
  • Develop relationships that create repeat business and early visibility of forthcoming projects.
  • Monitor tender opportunities, project announcements and planning activity to identify potential leads before projects reach the procurement stage.
3.) Interior Design Specification Development
  • Develop relationships with interior designers, architects and other design professionals who influence material selection and specification.
  • Organise and deliver studio-based lunch-and-learn sessions, product presentations and material education meetings.
  • Present the technical, aesthetic and commercial benefits of Stoneline's natural stone offering and Palezzo's bespoke surface solutions.
  • Encourage designers to visit the Stoneline Experience Centre and Gallery at 132 Wigmore Street, London.
  • Identify opportunities for both brands to be incorporated into project specifications, material schedules and design proposals.
  • Build long-term relationships that generate referrals, specifications and future commercial enquiries.
4.) Meetings, Presentations and Industry Engagement:
  • Independently arrange and conduct supplier meetings, client introductions, presentations and networking appointments.
  • Prepare and deliver professional presentations tailored to the needs of contractors, developers, designers and other prospective clients.
  • Represent Stoneline and Palezzo at industry exhibitions, networking events, conferences, design festivals and relevant business functions.
  • Support the planning and delivery of marketing events, client networking sessions and showroom activities.
  • Work collaboratively with the marketing team to ensure events and outreach initiatives generate measurable business opportunities.
  • Follow up promptly after meetings and events to convert introductions into meaningful commercial relationships.
5.) Commercial performance and pipeline management:
  • Take ownership of personal business development targets and maintain consistent prospecting activity.
  • Maintain an organised, up-to-date pipeline of leads, meetings, opportunities and anticipated project values.
  • Qualify opportunities based on project suitability, timing, decision-making authority, potential value and likelihood of conversion.
  • Provide regular reports on business development activity, pipeline growth, key relationships and expected revenue opportunities.
  • Work closely with the sales, estimating and project teams to progress qualified opportunities into enquiries, quotations and orders.
  • Analyse the effectiveness of prospecting activities and continuously refine the approach to maximise commercial results.
Candidate Experience:
  • Proven business development or new-business sales experience within the construction, architectural materials, natural stone, interior finishes, building products or a closely related industry.
  • Demonstrable experience identifying and winning new business rather than relying primarily on an existing customer portfolio.
  • Strong commercial awareness and an understanding of how construction projects are procured and delivered.
  • Confidence in cold calling, initiating conversations with senior decision-makers and securing meetings with prospective clients.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills, with the ability to deliver engaging presentations to both technical and design-led audiences.
  • Experience organising and delivering client meetings, product presentations, lunch-and-learn sessions or similar engagement activities.
  • A highly self-motivated, organised and proactive approach, with the discipline to manage a territory and workload independently.
  • Strong networking and relationship-building skills, supported by a persistent and commercially focused approach to follow-up.
  • The ability to identify opportunities, qualify leads and translate business development activity into a measurable sales pipeline.
  • A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel for client meetings and industry events.
