Job description

Experience. Credibility. Relationships. Growth.

We are in one of the most ambitious and exciting phases of our history. As one of the UK’s largest independent providers, our Care in the Home division is expanding rapidly, delivering highly specialist, complex care to adults and children in their own homes across the UK.

To support this growth, we are looking for a senior, experienced Business Development Manager who brings deep, demonstrable experience in complex home care and crucially, established relationships across key funding streams.

This role is not about learning the sector. It is about leveraging existing expertise, insight, and trusted partnerships to drive responsible, high-quality growth.

Group Care Pathways

As part of a wider specialist care group, our Care in the Home division operates within well‑established group care pathways. These pathways enable seamless transitions between services, ensuring individuals can step up or step down in support as their needs change, without disruption to care quality or outcomes.

In this role, you will understand the strategic value of integrated care pathways and use this knowledge to engage commissioners and funders in conversations about long‑term solutions, system efficiency, and improved client outcomes. You will work closely with internal stakeholders to position our group pathway capability as a differentiator in complex care commissioning.

Why This Role Is Different

Growth in complex care cannot be driven by sales alone. It depends on credibility, specialist knowledge, and long‑standing relationships with commissioners, funders, and clinical decision‑makers.

Our reputation has been built on delivering safe, outcome‑driven complex care at home — and this role plays a vital part in protecting and expanding that reputation.

When you will be working:
  • 37.5 hours per week
  • Monday to Friday
The Role:

Using your established experience and sector relationships, you will:

  • Deliver ambitious and sustainable growth in revenue, care packages, and billable hours
  • Leverage existing, credible relationships across all key funding streams, including ICBs Local Authorities, Case Managers, CHC, joint funding, and private pathways
  • Develop and execute regional growth plans rooted in a strong understanding of complex home‑based care
  • Build new strategic relationships while nurturing and expanding trusted partnerships
  • Lead on winning and retaining complex care contracts
  • Work closely with Clinical, Operations, and Contracts teams to ensure opportunities are clinically sound, operationally deliverable, and commercially viable
  • Represent our complex care capability with confidence and authority
  • Act as a representative of the Active Care Group offering
Essential Experience & Expertise
  • Demonstrable business development experience specifically within complex care delivered in the home
  • Established senior relationships across multiple funding streams
  • Strong understanding of commissioning structures, funding models, and contractual deliverables
  • Proven ability to influence senior decision‑makers
  • Commercial acumen underpinned by clinical credibility
What to look forward to:
  • 25 days plus bank holidays
  • Birthday off
  • Bonus
  • Join the Active Learning Hub and benefit from a wide range of e‑learning and face‑to‑face training and development opportunities
  • Active Reward App giving discounts and savings on your weekly shop
  • Free 24‑hour confidential Employee Assistance Programme Helpline & App to support with legal, health, wellbeing, relationship, and consumer advice
  • A Nest Personal Pension account
  • Access to join a Medicash Health Plan for you and your family to save money on everyday health essentials – like going to the dentist or opticians
  • We recognise outstanding Active Behaviours via the Active Awards programme
  • Enhanced Sick & Maternity Pay benefits
  • Refer a Friend Scheme and earn yourself up to £1000 by recommending someone you know
  • …and, of course, the support and guidance of our qualified clinical and business leadership teams so that you can really develop your career with Active Care Group
