Job Description
The Business Development Manager will provide experiences that significantly improve the employability of LGBT+ young persons.
Mosaic Works
Identify “Mosaic Works” work experience opportunities for Mosaic members (typically 1 – 3 weeks long), match the opportunity to an appropriate member, work with LGBT+ mentor at the employer to develop a good work experience, and work with members so they understand expectations and are prepared so as to maximise their experience. Success is delivering 20 high quality work experience placements per year.
- Building a target account list of potential employers and identifying key stakeholders
- Contacting LGBT employers, employees and network groups to identify those who are interested in mentoring LGBT+ work placements
- Handling contacts from employers interested in working with Mosaic showing them how they can partner with us and leading with Mosaic Works
- Working with contacts in the employers to support them to make their case internally within their organization to take a Mosaic Works placement
- Working with members at youth group (12 -18) and young adults group (18 -25) to identify suitable members to be placed in Mosaic Works opportunities. (This will require attending both youth group and young adults group once per month during evening or at the weekend)
- Matching members with opportunities – working with member, the employer and the mentor to ensure success both before and during the placement
- Following up after the placement to ensure maximum benefit for the member and appropriate closure with the employer and mentor
Social Action
While Mosaic Works is the key “CV enhancement” program we believe that appropriate social action / volunteering can be very useful too.
- Working with the Executive Director and other staff, identify opportunities for social action and volunteering
- Take the lead in managing the program, liaising with any partner organisations involved, and ensuring that the activity is clearly understood end to end and that members can be easily briefed on what is required.
It is expected that the proportion of time on Mosaic Works is around 80% and on social action around 20%.
Career, CV and interview advice
Our members need career guidance, advice on their CV and preparing them for interview. We have people who will help with this but you will coordinate it and will run occasional workshops (one per quarter) which we will help you with.
- Working with the Executive Director and other staff identify mentors able to offer career, CV and interview advice
- Signpost members to the advice mentors and regularly drive interest to them
- Together with staff and mentors run a quarterly career, CV and interview advice session
Ensure all activity is running according to Mosaic’s standards
- Ensure that appropriate safeguarding measures are in place and inform the Safeguarding Officer if there are concerns or issues.
- At all times, and in all decisions and actions, adhere to the ethical principles and policies of Mosaic.
- Report regularly on the progress and development of the programme to the Executive Director.
- Carry out other tasks as requested by the Executive Director.
