Job summary

QED Legal in Glasgow is seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to drive growth in the legal sector, with a particular focus on social housing and RSL work. You’ll own BD, bids and tender processes, coordinate high‑quality responses, and develop initiatives to raise the firm’s profile while building strong relationships with clients and partners.

Qualifications

  • Experience in business development, marketing, bids or tenders.
  • Preferably gained within a law firm or professional services environment.
  • Excellent written communication and proofreading skills.
  • Ability to build relationships with partners, stakeholders and clients.
  • Strong commercial awareness and proactive opportunity identification.
  • Organisational and project management skills; can manage priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate the firm's tender and bid process from start to submission.
  • Coordinate high‑quality tender responses with Partners and internal teams.
  • Develop initiatives to raise the firm’s profile and generate opportunities.
  • Support Chambers and Legal 500 submissions and client engagement.
  • Build relationships with clients and stakeholders in the social housing/RSL sector.
  • Coordinate client events and firm conferences; work with marketing on communications.
  • Monitor website content, online profiles and staff profiles; manage CRM data.
  • Produce regular BD reports with insight into activity and progress.

Business Development Manager - Legal Sector

Glasgow Full Time Permanent Salary Dependent on Experience

Are you an experienced Business Development Manager looking for your next opportunity within the legal or professional services sector? A well-established and highly regarded law firm in Glasgow is looking to appoint a commercially focused Business Development Manager to play a key role in supporting the firm's continued growth, with a particular focus on the social housing and Registered Social Landlord (RSL) sector.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a friendly, supportive firm where you'll work closely with Partners and senior stakeholders, helping to strengthen client relationships, identify new business opportunities and deliver strategic business development initiatives.

The Role

As Business Development Manager, you'll take ownership of a varied portfolio of BD, bids, tenders and client engagement activity. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading and coordinating the firm's tender and bid process, from identifying opportunities through to final submission
  • Working with Partners and internal teams to coordinate high-quality tender responses and ensure deadlines are achieved
  • Developing initiatives to increase the firm's profile and generate new business opportunities
  • Supporting the lead Partner with Chambers and Legal 500 submissions
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients and key stakeholders within the social housing/RSL sector
  • Coordinating client events, in-house events and firm conferences
  • Working alongside the Head of Marketing on social media activity and RSL-focused communications
  • Monitoring and improving relevant website content, online profiles and staff profile pages
  • Managing and maintaining the firm's CRM database, ensuring client and business development information remains accurate and up to date
  • Producing regular business development reports and providing insight into activity, opportunities and progress
What We’re Looking For

You’ll ideally have previous experience within business development, marketing, bids or tenders, preferably gained within a law firm, professional services organisation or similarly client-focused environment.

You’ll also bring:

  • Experience coordinating tenders, bids, submissions, events or client communications
  • Excellent written communication, drafting and proofreading skills
  • Confidence building relationships with Partners, senior stakeholders and external clients
  • Strong commercial awareness and a proactive approach to identifying opportunities
  • Excellent organisational and project management skills
  • The ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines
  • A collaborative, professional and approachable working style
  • Knowledge or experience of the social housing/RSL sector would be particularly valuable.
