Job description

Our client seeks a Business Development Manager to joint their team.

Role Profile

An opportunity for a dynamic, self-motivated, business developer with a proven track record of securing new business and building long term relationships. This role will see you form a key part of the business development team, meeting and ideally exceeding set performance targets. The role requires good understanding of commercial banking or ability to upskill, coupled with experience of AML practices. Experience of C/TSP, eGaming/digital sectors, financial services and other relevant markets particularly on the Isle of Man and Crown Dependencies is preferred. Additional sector or jurisdictional experience are a bonus.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build strong and resilient relationships with CSPs/TSPs, introducers of business and direct clients.
  • Establish and manage strategic, high-value relationships with T/CSP's, introducers and direct clients, ensuring long term engagement.
  • Strategic partnerships with high value T/CSP's in digital/gaming sector - referral agreements, understanding of barriers/successes and collaborate to solve.
  • Maintain knowledge of key players in sub-sectors of digital that are driving new business to IOM.
  • Meet or surpass new business targets set at the beginning of the year, and fulfil other objectives as agreed with Line Manager from time to time.
  • Work together with your line manager to determine and then own your distribution strategy.
  • Ability to document applicant opportunities which cover applicant background, source of wealth, source of funds, transactional activity and subsequent risk assessment of the applicant.
  • Drawing upon industry knowledge and strategic relationships, understand upcoming regulatory and legislation changes and present new business opportunities of where the bank can capitalise on these.
  • Demonstrate good professional judgement with regards to risk. Leverage professional judgement to assess and mitigate business risks, ensuring compliance with highest regulatory standards.
  • Sector specific risks/trends/themes and suggestions of how to mitigate / capitalise on these
  • Implement and foster a relationship-led approach to key clients and referrers of the Bank, ensuring the future retention of these clients.
  • Build profile domestically and internationally as the 'go to' person for corporate banking opportunities in the markets and sectors in which the Bank operates.
  • Identification of business leads including via introductory models and maintenance of those relationships.
  • Attend / host meetings, preparation for and the follow up of new business leads and prospects for the Bank.
  • Provide detailed information and presentations to CSP/TSPs, corporates, other intermediaries and clients about Bank services and systems.
  • Work together with Line Manager to partner with Bank operational teams and promote culture of excellence within the Bank as part of account handover process. Enhance and streamline account handover processes, ensuring a seamless client experience during and post onboarding.
  • Travel to CSPs/TSPs, corporates and other clients etc if required (including international travel). Also represent the Bank and IOM PLC at key industry events.
  • Deal with new business enquiries via various methods i.e face to face meetings, e-mail, virtual calls and telephone.
  • Undertake new business projects and initiatives, constantly thinking of new innovative ideas for increasing sales.
  • Reflect, with integrity, the values of the Group as part of its public facing profile.
  • Monitor new business statistics as or when required.
  • Capture appropriate client feedback and ensure that it is submitted appropriately in the Voice of the Client Forum. Collate client feedback, identifying key trends, barriers and successes and feed this into strategic discussions within the 'Voice of the Client' forum, ensuring actionable outcomes that deliver continuous improvement.
  • Work together with our Marketing department to create content, including articles and thought pieces.
  • Collaborate with Marketing department on creating a strategy to support lead generation, ultimately enhancing the Bank's digital client base. Develop a roadmap of key activities - sector / jurisdiction / product specific campaign, case studies, thought leadership pieces, educational content, etc.
  • Collaborate with Group Business Development teams of the Group's asset management and investment platform businesses across different offices, sharing leads, insights and opportunities, feeding into a culture of mutually support, collaboration and success.
  • Work closely with front-facing teams to ensure a consistent Capital International front office experience for all clients.
  • Communicate proactively with the Onboarding, Treasury and Operations teams to ensure new and existing BD relationships are well serviced through onboarding and ongoing processes and also to ensure smooth transitions, suggesting improvements to the process to enhance client experience.
  • Support relevant Group BD focused social media activity, including writing relevant BD related blogs.
  • Maintain good understanding of relevant risk management and compliance processes and procedures relevant to the activities of the BD team.
Key Skills and Experience
  • Must be highly motivated, confident, display high levels of integrity and a desire to win, travelling domestically and internationally to meet with clients and attend conferences. The role provides a clear pathway to future opportunities within the business and to build an international profile within the digital banking arena.
