Job description

Andy File Associates Limited are acting as a Recruitment Agency on behalf of our client with regards this permanent position.

Business Development Engineer

Salary: £45,000 - £65,000 plus annual bonus up to 20% of salary


Benefits: 25 days holiday plus stats, electric car, Revolut credit card fully expensed, 8% company pension with 5% from employee.


Location: Remote working from home with 1-2 days working from our client Head Office in Sheffield.


Reporting to: Sales Manager UK and Ireland


Mission

Implementation of the strategic and technical sales activities for the UK and support as needed for Ireland. The typical focus account groups will be Distribution/Stockists, DNOs/Utilities, Contractors, and OEM accounts, ensuring that our client's product portfolio complies with application requirements.


Achieve product approvals within the DNOs to ensure inclusion in standards or replace competitor products.


Provide excellent communication externally and internally to promote the advantages of our client's approach, emphasizing technical benefits and differentiation.


This role involves direct interface with Product Management for product adaptations and value-added services that can be specified within schemes. Support market intelligence efforts by assisting our PM/Technology Teams with product evolution for LV and MV connections up to 52kV, including Components, Earthing, Safety Equipment, and related applications (Renewable Wind/Solar).


Coordinate and prepare tender proposals, managing customer enquiries and contractual agreements.


Promote our client's UK Service offerings, including training, onsite advisory, and tooling portfolio.


Provide monthly activity reports by product group/customer, outlining activities, priorities, and next steps with clear responsibilities.


Participate in regular team meetings to share market intelligence.


Manage exhibitions, targeted accounts, and product demonstrations in collaboration with Marketing.


Contribute marketing notes and applications to support campaigns and exhibitions, including White Papers in collaboration with the PM team.


Day-to-day duties

  • Achieve business objectives as agreed with the Sales Director.
  • Meet monthly sales targets and KPIs.
  • Manage and update a client list, mapping key clients.
  • Create interest and opportunities with DNOs/OEMs/Strategic customers.
  • Follow up on quotations to ensure customer satisfaction and understanding of our solutions.
  • Collaborate with Technology/Product Managers to produce specifications and adaptations for product approval.
  • Produce regular competitive and market analysis reports.
  • Maximize revenue, profitability, and customer growth through strong relationships.
  • Handle customer issues proactively to minimize disruptions.
  • Work collaboratively across all company departments.
  • Coordinate responses with UK and Germany teams to establish our client as a key technology partner.
  • Attend relevant training courses within the group.
