Job Description:

An opportunity for a Business Development Director to work in the Technology, Media & Telecommunications sector to lead and grow a portfolio.

Role and Responsibilities:
  • Drive one major TMT business, alongside other accounts, to accelerate growth through creating and building relationships, originating and qualifying opportunities, and driving proposals and bids to win profitable revenue across all non-audit service lines at KPMG.
  • Develop your own network and relationships at the client, understand their issues, and originate opportunities, working with Partners to develop cross-service line solutions for multi-year, multi-million-pound programs.
  • Collaborate closely with the UK Sector Lead for TMT, Global Lead Partner (GLP), and Client Lead Partner (CLP), supporting development of account strategy and optimizing opportunities.
  • Lead on relationship strategy across your portfolio, developing and maintaining relationships, and identifying gaps and target clients.
  • Manage senior procurement relationships, lead negotiations, and support project teams in fee and terms agreements.
  • Deepen understanding of client priorities and sector trends to identify strategic opportunities and support proposal development.
  • Articulate KPMG’s main advisory offerings and the value proposition effectively.
  • Support the setting of account strategy and drive client service teams.
  • Build market awareness for KPMG solutions through client and market activity.
  • Drive collaboration across KPMG service offerings and member firms.
  • Support sales and marketing activities, tailoring approaches to clients.
  • Bring innovative ideas to the account and sector, sharing best practices and intelligence.
  • Act as a sales leader, coaching colleagues to enhance their sales skills.
Client Relationships:
  • Spend time at client sites and in meetings, both in person and virtually.
  • Gather and share information on client issues, facilitate relationship expansion, and develop relationships with senior management.
  • Coordinate client relationship events and measure ROI.
  • Lead development of relationships where none exist, and build relationships at Board and ExCo levels.
  • Act as a role model for Business Development, leveraging internal support and processes.
  • Identify and develop new opportunities, and increase sales conversion through rigorous processes.
  • Maintain visibility of sales pipeline and provide coaching to teams.
Key Measures:
  • Net sales performance against plans, account growth, opportunity scale, and future pipeline.
  • Development of new relationships and strengthening existing ones.
  • Client and colleague feedback, and ability to engage at senior levels.
  • Delivery of insightful, impactful client conversations and proposals.
Skills:
  • Experience in TMT sector, with a focus on sales or client-facing roles with sales techniques.
  • Understanding of professional services firms is advantageous.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Presentation and pitching skills, confidence with senior clients and groups.
  • Ability to learn and articulate services across the firm for a multidisciplinary approach.
  • Commercial acumen and methodologies to maximize outcomes.
