Job description

Business Development Director

Salary: Circa £60K - £75K base depending on experience plus bonus

Location: M4 Corridor West and Southwest– working from home and visiting clients

Our client is looking to recruit an experienced Business Development Director who will be instrumental in expanding and developing their established construction services business.

They are keen to identify an individual who is currently selling construction services and is extremely well networked. The successful candidate will create a Business Development plan for their area, and be able to work independently generating tenders, new clients and new markets.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Identifying profitable new business opportunities, and developing and converting a robust pipeline
  • Designing and implementing a comprehensive sales strategy aligned with the company's growth objectives
  • Generating new business leads through networking, referrals, and industry events
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships
  • Acting as the key point of contact for major clients, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction
  • Collaborating with Estimators, Quantity Surveyors, and Technical Teams to produce compelling, accurate bids
  • Meeting or exceeding agreed sales targets and KPIs for new project acquisition and revenue growth
  • Tracking and reporting on sales performance using CRM tools, providing insights to senior leadership
  • Promoting the company’s capabilities, track record, and reputation
  • Maintaining and developing a robust pipeline of prospective projects
  • Providing accurate forecasting of future workload and revenue opportunities

Key requirements will include:

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience building a pipeline and winning profitable business within the construction sector
  • A hunter by nature, passionate about reaching and exceeding individual financial targets
  • The ability to work under pressure, prioritising to meet deadlines, managing a busy workload and multi-tasking
  • Experience of strategic planning and execution of sales plans
  • Strong influencing, commercial and negotiation skills
  • Excellent negotiation skills to close deals, prepare proposals, and manage pricing strategies
  • Local market awareness, with an understanding of the economic drivers and construction opportunities
