Job Summary

This is an exciting new role that sits at the heart of HM Land Registry’s (HMLR) transformation agenda. The Business Design Team work across the HMLR to ensure that business change aligns with the organisation’s strategic direction, outcomes and ambition. The Business Design Manager will be an ambassador for change, working with stakeholders, including practitioners in the design community, to ensure that HMLR’s strategic priorities are well understood and embedded in change design and delivery.

Job Description

In this role your main duties would include:

  • Providing advice, guidance and recommendations to design practitioners and organisational leaders to ensure that design work aligns with strategy.
  • Selecting and using the most appropriate tools and techniques to support the planning, analysis, development, testing, and implementation of the evolving future state organisational design.
  • Working collaboratively with the members of HMLR’s design community, and leading aspects of the design process to ensure business change decisions are well informed through open, accurate and intelligent information.
  • Identifying and building relationships and then communicating clearly and regularly with stakeholders to gain consensus in answering design questions, managing the design assurance process and developing the business architecture.
  • Planning and supporting or leading workshops and meetings with subject matter experts and leaders in the organisation to develop a shared view of high-level requirements and business rules needed to support the future state of HMLR.
  • Solving complex business issues by framing the problems so that they can be easily understood, analysing data sets and metrics, bringing together disconnected information, and assessing risks, interdependencies and strategic alignment.
  • Proactively supporting HMLR’s design to delivery approach and continuously improving ways of working.
  • Supporting the Business Design Leads by documenting the outputs of meetings and workshops and producing clear artefacts and diagrams.

In This Role Your Main Duties Would Include

Person specification

For this role you must have experience of working as part of cross-functional teams to deliver business outcomes, along with a proven ability to build trusted relationships, engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.

You must be able to plan and prioritise your own workload when working on multiple concurrent activities using excellent organisation skills and having attention to detail.

You must have a proven ability to lead/facilitate collaborative sessions with a range of stakeholders and volumes of attendees in both in-person and virtual meetings, as well as experience of coaching others.

You should have the ability to understand complex concepts and communicate these effectively to stakeholders, depending on their specific needs.

You must be able to facilitate discussions with stakeholders of all levels, both in-person and in virtual meetings, guiding the approach to resolve complex issues, and considering all views and opinions.

Where an individual taking up the responsibility will be based in Swansea Office, the ability to speak Welsh is desirable.

Occasional travel to other HMLR / government / external locations including overnight stays may be required where necessary.
