Talent in Greater Manchester is seeking a Business Analyst on a 12-month fixed term contract to join the PMO of a large public sector transformation programme. The role is hybrid, 37 hours per week, with core hours 10am to 3pm and three in-office days.

You’ll map journeys, define requirements, and work with stakeholders to realise measurable value. You’ll join an established team of senior PAs and BAs delivering critical service improvements.

Business Analyst (12-Month Fixed Term Contract)

Location: Greater Manchester (hybrid)

Salary: £41,000 to £49,000 per year

Contract: 12 months fixed term, with the possibility of extension to 18 months

Hours: 37 hours per week, core hours 10am to 3pm

Working pattern: 3 days a week in the office (days not fixed)

Help shape services that make a real difference to the people who use them. We’re partnering with a large public sector organisation in the middle of a major transformation programme, and we’re looking for a Business Analyst to join its Project Management Office (PMO) at an exciting time.

With a substantial pipeline of projects, there’s plenty to get stuck into. Discovery work is ready and waiting, so you can make an impact from day one. You’ll join an established PMO that includes senior project managers, project managers, project support, a benefits realisation lead and a team of Business Analysts. With several Lead BAs in the team, you’ll always have an experienced colleague to learn from and bounce ideas off.

You’ll help the organisation understand how services work today and shape how they should work in future. Much of this centres on customer journey mapping: looking at services through the eyes of the people who use them and translating those journeys into clear process maps and requirements that development teams can build from.

You’ll be responsible for:

• Carrying out discovery work on new projects, starting with initiatives ready for you to pick up straight away
• Mapping customer journeys and business processes, and turning them into developer-ready requirements
• Working with service teams and stakeholders to understand their needs and spot opportunities to improve
• Partnering with project managers, Lead BAs and the benefits realisation lead to make sure change delivers measurable value
• Supporting a varied portfolio of projects across a range of service areas
• Contributing to the use of technology, including CRM and emerging tools such as AI, to improve how services are delivered
• Previous experience working in the public sector, housing or a similar regulated environment
• Proven experience as a Business Analyst, ideally in an organisation going through transformation
• A good understanding of public services and the challenges they face
• Strong process and customer journey mapping skills
• The ability to work collaboratively at every level and manage your own workload across multiple projects
• Experience in social care or similar people-focused services
• Experience with CRM systems or AI, or a genuine interest in how AI can improve public services
