Job description

We are looking for a Business Analyst to join our Business Solutions team. In this role, you will analyse business requirements, translate them into clear and deliverable specifications, and support the successful delivery of system enhancements, process changes and client implementations. Working closely with technical, operational and project teams, you will help deliver high-quality solutions across defined benefit and defined contribution pension schemes.

The Business Analyst plays a key role in supporting the successful delivery of projects, system enhancements, process change and client implementations across Trafalgar House. The role is responsible for undertaking detailed business analysis to understand requirements, assess impact and translate business needs into clear, structured and deliverable specifications.

The role supports change across defined benefit and defined contribution pension schemes, including scheme events, payroll‑related activity, reporting and system interfaces. Working closely with project managers, developers, analysts and operational teams, the Business Analyst ensures solutions are high quality, compliant, efficient and aligned to both client and business objectives.

Key responsibilities
  • Analyse business requirements and produce clear and accurate change specifications for system, process and reporting changes.
  • Undertake detailed analysis of scheme rules, processes, data flows and interfaces, identifying risks, dependencies and impacts.
  • Document findings in line with company standards, ensuring appropriate review, version control and formal sign‑off to minimise risk and error.
  • Provide subject‑matter expertise on business processes and systems within the responsibility of Business Solutions.
  • Complete detailed acceptance testing of solutions, documenting outcomes and confirming readiness for release.
  • Liaise with Business Solutions colleagues, scheme experts, technical teams, payroll and member / scheme services to ensure integrity of data, systems and process standards.
Projects
  • Contribute to scoping exercises, ensuring estimates of effort, complexity, costs and timescales are robust and realistic.
  • Deliver project analysis work in line with agreed scope, proposal documents and target dates, highlighting risks, issues or dependencies promptly.
  • Provide clear and concise progress reporting as required.
  • Support successful project delivery by working collaboratively with project managers, developers and business stakeholders.
  • Ensure effective handover of delivered solutions into business‑as‑usual operations.
Implementations
  • Support tender responses and implementation scoping activities where required.
  • Complete implementation analysis and documentation to agreed plans, timescales and quality standards.
  • Analyse requirements and system / process changes, raising queries promptly to ensure accurate implementation of schemes.
  • Complete acceptance testing on implementation deliverables and support formal sign‑off.
  • Liaise with relevant experts to ensure smooth handover of new schemes, system implementations and process developments.
General business responsibilities
  • Ensure all work is completed in line with business policies, procedures and governance requirements, reducing the risk of errors, rework and write‑off.
  • Maintain awareness of commercial considerations, including efficiency, delivery to budget and revenue impact.
  • Adhere to data protection and information security requirements, including ISO 27001 and Information Security Management System controls.
  • Communicate effectively with managers, team members, project managers, stakeholders and end users throughout the delivery lifecycle.
  • Support the introduction and adoption of change through clear documentation, training materials and communication.
  • Identify opportunities for improving efficiency, quality of service and business processes, contributing to business development initiatives where appropriate.
  • Support research and assessment of new systems, tools and software solutions where required.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with a good understanding of business analysis methodologies and approaches.
  • Ability to read, understand and interpret complex technical, business and regulatory documentation.
  • Strong technical understanding of Defined Benefit and Defined Contribution pension arrangements.
  • Experience of pension scheme projects, implementations, scheme events and/or payroll‑related exercises.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong numeracy skills and confidence working with complex data and calculations.
  • Highly computer literate, with strong Microsoft Office skills (particularly Excel, Word and PowerPoint).
  • Experience working with pension administration systems (knowledge of Intellipen or similar platforms desirable).
  • Understanding of project management methodologies and structured change delivery environments.
  • Data analysis experience, including reporting and management information (SQL / MI tools desirable).
  • A‑Level or equivalent, with GCSE English and Mathematics (A–C).
  • Relevant experience in a Business Analyst or comparable analytical role within pensions administration or financial services.
  • Self‑starter with the ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills, capable of balancing multiple priorities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the confidence and gravitas to build effective working relationships with colleagues, managers and clients.
  • High attention to detail and a strong commitment to quality and accuracy.
