Job summary

Northumberland County Council is offering a Business Administrator Apprentice position (Level 3), fixed-term for 21 months, 37 hours per week, combining workplace experience with structured learning to achieve the Level 3 Apprenticeship.

Working in Democratic Services, you will handle emails and calls, maintain records, produce documents and reports, and use IT systems to manage information while learning council policies and procedures.

Qualifications

  • GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent) at grade 4/C or above.
  • Progress to Level 3 Business Administrator Apprenticeship.
  • Strong numeracy, literacy and IT skills.
  • Willingness to learn and develop admin skills.

Business Administrator Apprentice (Level 3) – Fixed-Term Apprenticeship Contract: 21 Months – 37 Hours per Week

Are you looking to start your career whilst gaining a nationally recognised qualification? Northumberland County Council is offering an exciting opportunity to join our organisation as a Business Administrator Apprentice. This apprenticeship combines valuable workplace experience with structured learning, enabling you to achieve the Level 3 Business Administrator Apprenticeship Standard and develop the skills, knowledge and behaviours needed for a successful career in business administration.


Working within our Democratic Services Team, you will support in delivering high-quality administrative services, whilst developing skills in communication, organisation, customer service, problem solving, digital technologies and stakeholder engagement.


What You’ll Be Doing


  • Managing emails, telephone calls and enquiries from internal and external customers.

  • Creating, maintaining and updating records, files and information systems.

  • Producing accurate documents, reports and correspondence.

  • Using a range of IT systems and software packages to record, manage and analyse information.

  • Developing an understanding of Council services, policies and procedures.


About the Apprenticeship

The apprenticeship will be delivered by Northumberland Skills and during the programme you will learn how to:



  • Communicate effectively with a range of audiences.

  • Use business systems and digital technologies confidently.

  • Plan and organise your workload effectively.

  • Build strong working relationships with stakeholders.

  • Deliver high-quality administrative support.

  • Understand business processes, policies and compliance requirements.

  • Work professionally and demonstrate initiative and responsibility.

  • GCSE Grade 4 (C) or above in English and Maths (or equivalent).
