Job summary

Stagecoach Barnstaple is hiring a proactive Bus/PSV Mechanic to service a modern, varied fleet including electric vehicles. Based at Barnstaple depot, the role offers a days-based pay rate of £20.27 per hour for a 39-hour week, with enhanced overtime rates and ongoing training as technology advances.

You will maintain and repair buses to DVSA/Stagecoach safety standards, diagnose faults, inspect and service vehicles, and support apprentices in a collaborative depot environment.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 in HGV or PSV Maintenance (or equivalent).
• Hands-on experience with commercial or specialist vehicles.
• Safety-first attitude with strong attention to detail.
• Team player with good communication skills.
• Experience on buses or large passenger vehicles (desirable).

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair our fleet of buses to DVSA and Stagecoach safety standards.
• Diagnose and fix mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults.
• Carry out routine inspections, servicing, and occasional roadside repairs.
• Support apprentices by sharing your knowledge and experience.
• Work safely and efficiently as part of a collaborative depot team.
