Job summary

Metroline Manchester is seeking a Vehicle Technician / Bus Mechanic to inspect, diagnose and maintain buses to maximize availability. You will join the Engineering Team reporting to the Engineering Manager and work with mechanics and specialists across depots in Hyde Road, Tameside, Sharston and Wythenshawe.

The role emphasizes mechanical, electrical and minor body repairs, safety, and documentation adherence.

Qualifications

Knowledge and experience in vehicle bodywork repairs and maintenance, ideally on HGV/PCV/buses.
Ability to read and understand complex technical instructions in manuals, wiring diagrams, schematics.
Awareness of risk assessment, Health and Safety practices, and Department of Transport standards.
Understanding of VOSA/Department of Transport standards.
Basic bus bodywork skills.
Ability to gain a PCV licence.

Responsibilities

Carry out mechanical, electrical and minor body repairs and road-test on completion.
Ensure sufficient vehicles are available to meet PVR and operate to standards.
Maintain documentation and records for DOT Operators licence and policies.
Work in line with Health & Safety policies and procedures.
Train and mentor apprentices and new recruits.
Any other reasonable duties as directed by senior management.
