Job summary

Randstad Education is seeking a detail‑oriented Bursary Support Administrator to join the Student Advice and Safeguarding team at a large FE college. You will assess bursary applications, allocate funding, and act as the primary contact for bursary queries across campus.

You will work across Cambridge and Huntingdon, coordinate with Finance for timely disbursements, and maintain auditable records using PayMyStudent, Promonitor and EBS. DBS checks and a probation period apply.

Qualifications

  • GCSEs in English and Maths at Grade C/4 or above.
  • Proven experience in a busy administrative role with strong customer service.
  • Proficiency with bespoke administrative software, databases and IT packages.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate incoming student bursary applications and allocate financial support per guidelines.
  • Answer bursary queries via email, Teams, phone and front desk in Student Services Hub.
  • Collaborate with Finance to ensure timely bursary disbursements.
  • Maintain confidential records in PayMyStudent, Promonitor and EBS.
  • Assist with bursary appeals and KPI data collection.
  • Update bursary guidance and ensure GDPR compliance across channels.
  • Provide general admin cover during peak enrolment and support Open Events.

Bursary Support Administrator

Location: Cambridge / Huntingdon (Dual-site coverage required)

Contract Type: Temporary (8 Weeks)

Hours: Full-Time, 37 hours per week

Pay Rate: £14 - £15 per hour

About the Role

Are you an experienced administrator with strong attention to detail and a passion for supporting students?

Randstad is currently recruiting for a Bursary Support Administrator to join the Student Advice and Safeguarding team within a leading Further Education college. In this dynamic, student-facing role, you will coordinate the administration of all college bursaries, assess student applications, and ensure funding is allocated accurately to support learners throughout their educational journey.

Key Responsibilities
  • Application Assessment: Evaluate incoming student bursary applications, verifying supporting documentation, and allocating financial support in accordance with college and funding guidelines.
  • Student & Staff Advisory: Act as a key point of contact for bursary-related queries via email, Microsoft Teams, phone, and face-to-face drop-ins at the Student Services Hub front desk.
  • Finance Collaboration: Work closely with the Finance Department to ensure timely, regular bursary disbursements throughout the term.
  • Data & Systems Management: Maintain accurate, confidential, and auditable records using bespoke systems such as PayMyStudent, Promonitor, and EBS.
  • Appeals & Reporting: Assist the Student Support & Safeguarding Manager by compiling documentation for bursary appeals and gathering data to track key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Information & Compliance: Help update bursary guidance across college channels, uphold equal opportunities, and ensure strict compliance with GDPR.
  • General Support: Provide wider administrative cover during peak enrolment periods and participate in Open Events via a team rota.
Key Requirements
  • Qualifications: GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths at Grade C/4 or above.
  • Experience: Proven track record in a busy administrative role with strong customer service experience.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with bespoke administrative software, databases, and IT packages.
  • Communication & Care: Excellent written and verbal communication, with the patience and empathy required to interact with young and potentially vulnerable learners.
  • Flexibility & Mobility: Willingness to split working hours between both the Cambridge and Huntingdon campuses as needed.
  • Compliance: Subject to a satisfactory Enhanced DBS check (or an active DBS on the Update Service) and a 6-month probationary period.
Desirable
  • Level 3 Qualification in Business Administration.
  • Prior experience working within a Further Education (FE) or Post-16 learning environment.
  • Familiarity with education management systems (PayMyStudent, Promonitor, EBS).
