About the Role

Are you an experienced administrator with strong attention to detail and a passion for supporting students?

Randstad is currently recruiting for a Bursary Support Administrator to join the Student Advice and Safeguarding team within a leading Further Education college. In this dynamic, student-facing role, you will coordinate the administration of all college bursaries, assess student applications, and ensure funding is allocated accurately to support learners throughout their educational journey.

Key Responsibilities

  • Application Assessment: Evaluate incoming student bursary applications, verifying supporting documentation, and allocating financial support in accordance with college and funding guidelines.

  • Student & Staff Advisory: Act as a key point of contact for bursary-related queries via email, Microsoft Teams, phone, and face-to-face drop-ins at the Student Services Hub front desk.

  • Finance Collaboration: Work closely with the Finance Department to ensure timely, regular bursary disbursements throughout the term.

  • Data & Systems Management: Maintain accurate, confidential, and auditable records using bespoke systems such as PayMyStudent, Promonitor, and EBS.

  • Appeals & Reporting: Assist the Student Support & Safeguarding Manager by compiling documentation for bursary appeals and gathering data to track key performance indicators (KPIs).

  • Information & Compliance: Help update bursary guidance across college channels, uphold equal opportunities, and ensure strict compliance with GDPR.

  • General Support: Provide wider administrative cover during peak enrolment periods and participate in Open Events via a team rota.

Key Requirements

Essential:

  • Qualifications: GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths at Grade C/4 or above.

  • Experience: Proven track record in a busy administrative role with strong customer service experience.

  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with bespoke administrative software, databases, and IT packages.

  • Communication & Care: Excellent written and verbal communication, with the patience and empathy required to interact with young and potentially vulnerable learners.

  • Flexibility & Mobility: Willingness to split working hours between both the Cambridge and Huntingdon campuses as needed.

  • Compliance: Subject to a satisfactory Enhanced DBS check (or an active DBS on the Update Service) and a 6-month probationary period.

Desirable:

  • Level 3 Qualification in Business Administration.

  • Prior experience working within a Further Education (FE) or Post-16 learning environment.

  • Familiarity with education management systems (PayMyStudent, Promonitor, EBS).

  • Access to the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS).

  • The opportunity to gain valuable experience in a well-regarded educational institution.

  • Supportive team environment within a vibrant Student Experience Directorate.
