Job summary

Brighton & Hove City Council is seeking a Building Surveyor to deliver planned maintenance, refurbishment and compliance projects across civic assets.

You will undertake surveys, prepare reports and manage contracts from inception to completion, coordinating consultants and contractors to achieve safe, sustainable outcomes.

This permanent role offers a competitive salary (£41,177 - £44,253 plus £5,000 market supplement) and a benefits package including pension, generous leave and flexible working.

Qualifications

• Degree in Building Surveying, Construction Management or related discipline.
• Experience delivering building surveying services and property improvement projects.
• Knowledge of CDM 2015, Building Regulations and health and safety requirements.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Undertaking condition surveys, inspections and defect investigations.
• Preparing feasibility studies, technical reports, specifications and schedules of work.
• Managing planned maintenance and capital projects from inception to completion.
• Acting in contract administration and project management roles.
• Managing consultants and contractors, monitoring performance, programme and budgets.
• Applying Principal Designer and CDM responsibilities where required.
• Supporting sustainability, accessibility and compliance improvements across the portfolio.
• Building positive working relationships with clients, contractors, consultants and council colleagues.
