Job summary

The University of Brighton is looking for a Building Surveyor to join the Estate and Facilities Management team. You will deliver planned maintenance and improvement projects across our portfolio, ensuring safety, quality and energy efficiency.

You will conduct surveys, manage consultants and contractors, and act as Contract Administrator and Principal Designer under CDM regulations, with an agile working system and a requirement to spend at least two days in the office.

Qualifications

• Comprehensive knowledge of construction technology and building pathology.
• Experience delivering maintenance and improvement projects from inception to completion.
• Degree-level qualification in Building Surveying or related discipline; professional membership preferred.

Responsibilities

• Undertake surveys of university buildings to establish their condition.
• Manage contractual relationships with consultants/contractors.
• Advise on energy efficiency, environmental impact and sustainable construction.
• Advise on the Health and Safety aspects of buildings.
• Assist in-house clients to develop briefs, design and specify works.
• Perform the role of Contract Administrator and Principal Designer under CDM Regulations as necessary.
