Job summary

Hyde Group is seeking an experienced Building Surveyor to manage cases from initial inspection through to completion of works across London and Kent. The role requires clear technical direction, compliance with legal and contractual standards, and collaboration with residents and legal partners to achieve timely, fair resolutions.

Key duties include reports, inspections, supervising contractors, and risk management with internal teams.

Qualifications

• Experience in surveying within social housing.
• Strong knowledge of building defects, diagnosis, and remedial solutions.
• Excellent communication skills with residents, contractors, and legal stakeholders.
• Ability to prepare clear technical reports and negotiate effectively.
• Proactive, organised, and solutions-focused approach.
• Full UK driving licence (essential due to mobile nature of the role).
• Relevant qualifications such as RICS.

Responsibilities

• Produce detailed technical reports, schedules of works, specifications, measurements, and costings.
• Carry out property inspections and surveys, ensuring works meet quality and compliance standards.

Are you an experienced Building Surveyor who wants to make a real difference in social housing?

As a Building Surveyor, you'll manage cases from initial inspection through to the completion of works. You’ll provide clear technical direction, ensure compliance with legal and contractual standards, and work closely with customers and legal partners to achieve fair, timely resolutions. You’ll balance technical excellence with strong customer communication, ensuring customers feel supported and informed throughout the process.

Key Responsibilities

• Produce detailed technical reports, schedules of works, specifications, measurements, and costings

About You

We’re looking for someone who understands the realities of social housing and is motivated by improving homes for customers. Looking for strong experience in surveying, specifying, and supervising building works, including repairs, refurbishments, adaptations, and cyclical programmes with particular emphasis on roofing works, dealing with all varieties of roof construction and providing cost-effective, long-term solutions.
