Job summary

Match Recruitment is seeking a Building Surveyor to work from home in the Birmingham area. You will manage a varied caseload from insurers and policyholders, performing defect surveys and assembling costed works schedules.

You’ll handle repair projects to completion under JCT contracts, with autonomy and a growing private client workload as the business expands. Flexible home/office setup is available.

Qualifications

• Strong building surveying background; insurance claims a bonus.
• Knowledge of CDM Regulations and JCT contracts.
• AssocRICS, MRICS or MCIOB, or working towards a professional qualification.
• Clear written and spoken communication; proactive and independent.

Responsibilities

• Manage your own caseload of instructions from insurers, loss adjusters and policyholders.
• Carry out defect diagnosis surveys to establish cause and extent of damage.
• Prepare costed schedules of works.
• Run repair projects through to completion under JCT contracts; variations and milestones.
• Keep all parties informed and meet client service levels and KPIs.
• Take on non-insurance, private client work as the business grows.

Building Surveyor – Birmingham / West Midlands

Home-based | Monday to Friday, 35 hours

Match Recruitment is working with a well-established UK claims and property consultancy to appoint a Building Surveyor based in the Birmingham area. It's a home-based role with a varied caseload, real autonomy and a growing mix of insurance and private client work.

The patch

You'll ideally live in or around Birmingham, covering the wider West Midlands – north towards Staffordshire and Derbyshire, and south through Warwickshire towards Oxfordshire.

What you'll be doing

• Managing your own caseload of instructions from insurers, loss adjusters and policyholders
• Carrying out defect diagnosis surveys to establish the cause and extent of damage
• Preparing costed schedules of works
• Running repair projects through to completion under JCT contracts – variations, payments, liquidated damages and key milestones
• Keeping every party informed and working to client service levels and KPIs
• Picking up non-insurance, private client instructions as that side of the business grows

What you'll bring

• A strong building surveying background – insurance claims experience is a bonus, not a requirement
• Sound working knowledge of CDM Regulations and JCT contracts
• AssocRICS, MRICS or MCIOB, or working towards a professional qualification
• Clear, confident communication in writing and in person, with good negotiation and investigation skills
• Strong IT skills and the self-discipline to manage your own diary and work on your own initiative
• Full UK driving licence
