Job summary

Ipswich Council is seeking a Building Surveying Manager for a permanent role based in IP2 0EF. The position is hybrid with 2 days on site.

You will lead a team of Chartered surveyors and technical officers, manage budgets and coordinate major maintenance and improvement programmes. The candidate should have a Building Services degree (or equivalent) and at least 5 years of relevant experience, plus supervisory experience and strong stakeholder liaison skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Building Services or equivalent professional building related qualification.
• 5 years qualitative experience in building surveying or related field.
• Staff supervision experience with multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Manage a team of Chartered surveying professionals and technical officers, including allocation, programming, monitoring and progression of work.
• Lead project teams for high value and complex projects, liaising with Housing Senior Management, CMT, Councillors and other stakeholders.
• Lead service improvement initiatives, implementing new policies and procedures to improve customer-focused services.
• Fully investigate and resolve service area complaints or disputes with contractors, including potential escalation.
• Coordinate responsive repairs, capital improvements and planned maintenance programmes while monitoring budgets and performance.

I am currently representing Ipswich Councilwho are offering a permanent position for the right candidate.

We are looking for a Building Surveying Managerthis role will be based at: IP2 0EF, Hybrid 2 days on site.

The right candidate will:

• Manage a team of Chartered surveying professionals and technical officers including allocation, programming, monitoring and progressing work of the team, management and appraisal of the team. Provide cover for the Principal Contracts Manager and represent the council at various forums related to maintenance and improvement work and/ or at Executive meetings or meetings with Councillors.
• Lead project teams for delivering high value and complex projects including selecting and organising the team and co-ordinating their activities. Liaise with various stakeholders that may include Housing Senior Management team, Principal Managers, CMT, Councillors to ensure a co-ordinated approach to maintenance and allocation of work to ensure targets are met.
• Lead service improvement teams including the investigation of best working practices, the introduction of new policies/ procedures, and developing and leading service improvement panels, to assist in the overall improvement of customer focused services.
• Fully investigate and follow through to conclusion service area complaints (from customers) or major disputes with contractors (that may involve processes such as legal adjudication) including liaising with all relevant stakeholders
• Formulating and coordinating the responsive repairs programme, major capital HRA improvements programme, and planned maintenance programme liasing with all stakeholders. Monitor and manage significant budgets, frequencies, and current working practices to help establish work more suitable for inclusion in maintenance improvement programmes.

• Building services related Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent professional building related qualification and 5 years qualitative experience
